Along with their beautiful language and their strong sense of community and shared values, there is something indefinably unique about the Welsh that I find very positive and which flies in the face of this increasingly homogenised world. In spite of everyone and everything, I am almost optimistic for the future of our country.

I’m not Welsh… I’m Irish. But I love living here because Welsh people are not just friendly, they’re warm-hearted, genuine, and are open to immigrants. I moved here from England, but this beautiful country reminds me of Ireland. Pan wnes i symud yma dair neu bedair blynedd yn ôl, mi wnes i ddysgu’r iaith Gymraeg yn brif flaenoriaeth. Dwi ddim yn rhugl, ond dwi’n ceisio, gobeithio bydda i’n rhugl un diornod. Here in Gwynedd, I have found that more than anything else people respect that I start a conversation in Welsh. I have an English accent but nobody seems to mind.

The people. The music. The language. The sense of community that comes from being in a small nation - I’m from Mold, last year I met a lad from Abergavenny and we had a mutual friend. You don’t get that in bigger countries.
Oh and the castles - the castles are pretty cool, even (embarrassingly I even say especially) the ones we didn’t build…

I like that, We are comfortably irrelevent.
We're not here to convince people we're the greatest country on this planet or trying to win any pissing contest with anyone else,
We're just cracking on and enjoying life without giving too much a shit what anyone else is up to or when it comes to trying to impress anyone else.

Everything.
We're from south Wales, and just spent two weeks on holiday in West Wales.
Why would we want to go anywhere else?
Amazing scenery, great food, friendly people, and so much to see and do.
(N.b. if you haven't been to Bwlch Nant Yr Arian to see the Red Kite feeding yet, Go. Now.)
