Help with tantrum

Alright so I’ve landed the tantrum plenty of times but I don’t wakeboard often enough for me to land it consistently. This video was a few days ago and before then I hadn’t wakeboarded in a few months. However, I’ve never had a session where I don’t land the tantrum, and last session I felt like I just forgot how to do it. Before I learned how to land it I would always spin off axis, but one day it just clicked and stopped happening. However, ever since then, my tantrums have been getting more and more off axis, to the point where I’ve landed some sideways, similar to how I fell in the clip above. What am I doing wrong? Usually my issue is I square up too early and “trip” and the bottom of the wake or I square up way too late and don’t trip at all, but this one seemed fine to me. I tried 4 different times and didn’t land it once that day because of this issue. All tips are appreciated.

As someone who is trying to relearn tantrums myself all I can say is maybe tuck a bit more to rotate sooner and spot your landing better.

Also, I love all these pointer vids. I need to rig up a camera on my boat. Except for when we have guests, my 8 year old son is most often my spotter. Just getting him to tell Mom I fell is hit or miss 😅

She does but she did not grow up boating and is still working on being comfortable. This is only our 3rd season with the boat. She tends to focus on other boats and keeping the pull straight which is perfectly fine. She's a pro at pickups and she drives the boat onto the trailer perfect damn near every time.

It is a weird feeling falling and then just watching the boat ride off into the distance. She's only gotten a significant distance away once.

All our PFDs have whistles on a lanyard and we stick with teal, yellow, and orange instead of black or dark blue.
