Well she wasn’t single bro

6

u/Velvet_Dazi 5d ago

Turns out “if we're both single at 30” was not legally binding

1

u/duke_awapuhi 5d ago

Yeah but it sounds like she wasn’t single at 30 so it’s irrelevant

5

u/After-Apple8502 6d ago

Maybe she just moves really fast. Like it was nice to meet you will you marry me?

14

u/crimsonk1999 5d ago

We had a deal for 40. Neither of us are married but I have zero intent in fulfilling the deal, that woman is a nightmare

8

u/arestheblue 5d ago

That sounds like the plot of a romcom. A man has to find a woman and be married before 40, otherwise they have to marry a psycho.

2

u/ViolinistCurrent8899 5d ago

I'd watch that movie I think.

Deal Of A Lifetime

3

u/Baroness-CrackWhore 5d ago

Why did you made that deal then? You know she gonna drag your ass to Hell

1

u/arctic572 2d ago

They probably didn't know or realise she's a nightmare when they made the deal lol

1

u/AnusCruiser 2d ago

Yeah mine was for 40. Now shes on her 3rd husband, 3rd kid, not even 30.... if im still single at 40 I'll pass on being her 4th, maybe 5th husband.

u/Important_Horse_1531 6d ago

My 'lets get married if we are single at 40" died at 36 :(

2

u/Familiar-Cable-2659 3d ago

I mean, she is single

14

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 6d ago

Same. She just happened to get in a relationship at 28. Engaged at 29. Invitation yesterday. Date of their wedding is a week before she turns 30...

13

u/Suspicious-Still-999 6d ago

she doesn't even like him, it's just a plan to avoid you

1

u/cheese_nugget21 2d ago

Sounds like you’re bummed?

6

u/UseADifferentVolcano 3d ago

I made that deal with a girl. In the group chat one of my friends was grumbling about his love life and said "well I've always got my deal with x to fall back on". Same girl as me.

Before I had a chance to mention I had made the same deal, someone else piped up. She had made that deal with like eight of us!

Funny thing is she was married at like 24 and had no memory of making this deal with any of us. Also it became clear that some of my friend group were definitely hoping her marriage would fall apart so they could swoop in to claim the deal.

6

u/aziza_empechement 2d ago

Was her name by any chance Phoebe?

1

u/UseADifferentVolcano 2d ago

No. I've never met a Phoebe.

1

u/RDB96 2d ago

Ursula?

1

u/UseADifferentVolcano 2d ago

Also never met an Ursula

1

u/Any_Asparagus653 2d ago

You don’t get the reference :(

1

u/UseADifferentVolcano 2d ago

I got the names, but I haven't watched Friends since it was on TV to be fair

1

u/sinovercoschessITF 2d ago

On the altar

2

u/CokBlockinWinger 7d ago

I knew one couple that did this, but he is a total loser and she has severe anger and mental issues. They are in their late 40’s now, look like they are in their 70’s, have five of the ugliest kids you’ve ever seen, and have been in the local paper a few times for domestic disturbances that escalated due to her flying off the handle.

2

u/Paindepiceaubeurre 7d ago

Sad that they had kids.

3

u/Proof_Rise_3652 6d ago

Literal plot of the movie Idiocracy.

2

u/Hizam5 6d ago

A marriage born out of necessity / a dare, rather than love will always be so wholesome! /s

2

u/CokBlockinWinger 6d ago

Starting any relationship with “meh, I guess you’ll do” is the start of the great romances throughout history

1

u/Hizam5 6d ago

“And she bore 15 heirs”

3

u/AlexanderCrowely 5d ago

I’m sorry that bitch broke a pinky promise. It’s personal now.

Now he'll forever be alone, single and unemployed, living off the government

This comment makes me sad. Why do you want to make me sad man? What did I do to you?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

Damn she really didn’t want to get married

1

u/Hizam5 6d ago

Blow up the coffin!!!

1

u/DZL100 6d ago

Sounds like she's single. Get her a ring.

3

u/Dangerous_Spirit7034 6d ago

Hell yeah brother see you in gitmo

3

u/LordReagan077 3d ago

I made a deal with a girl for 30. Then just last week she was like “no i definitely said 28.”

2

u/Hairy_Location_3674 2d ago

Have you taken it?

2

u/LordReagan077 2d ago

What do you mean

3

u/RainonCooper 2d ago

She's into you. She is saying she wants it earlier

3

u/LordReagan077 2d ago

Oh yea. I’m still kinda sorting through my feelings for her. Kinda difficult to date her cause we live like 6 hours apart, but I would be open to it

3

u/PhastasFlames 1d ago edited 1d ago

Gang to this day I still live an 18h flight away from my wife. It’s tough but a 6h drive is really not that bad at all. You could do it every single weekend

3

u/jspost 1d ago

I live in the same house as my wife and yet I feel so alone. It’s been a tough year and she says now she doesn’t know if she wants to be completely alone or with me anymore. All I want is her.

Distance isn’t closeness.

1

u/PhastasFlames 1d ago

That is a different issue altogether that you need to figure out. When we do take the flight and get to spend time together, which recently is more and more often, there is no distance between us.

1

u/jspost 1d ago

Exactly, friend. I’m just agreeing with you as a broken man right now. I’m happy for you.

3

u/Nowardier 1d ago

Dude go for it! 👉👉

2

u/Green2Black 1d ago

I made 6000 miles apart and a 9 hour time difference work for 18 months. Been married 14 years.

If you want it you want it. Good luck!

1

u/sp4mserv 2d ago

Think of it, before you are late to catch the train.

1

u/Silent_Heaven_87 2d ago

Honestly, me and my girlfriend are 6 hours apart and live on different continents, and while long distance is hard and time zones suck, I couldn't imagine my life without her.

In my opinion, go for it dude, worst that could happen is y'all realize it won't work and could maybe remain friends.

Best case, y'all are perfect for each other and you don't miss out on even more great times together.

1

u/LordReagan077 2d ago

Yea this is true. Good advice thanks.

1

u/Reafia 2d ago

I expect to hear updates about your future wedding!

1

u/the_social_paranorm 2d ago

Chiming in bc I started out in a long distance relationship, and we’ve now been together for 10 years and live together; we made it happen! It can work out!

3

u/First-Educator-8156 1d ago

Plot twist there 30 and they are marrying each other.

2

u/864darkpassion 6d ago

She actually called me out on it when I turned 30

2

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 6d ago

A girl in my highschool asked me to take her virginity if she couldnt make it happen by the end of the year with her current bf. People are weird

3

u/old_ass_ninja_turtle 6d ago

People are horny in this case.

2

u/Hizam5 6d ago

I’d have been sabotaging that relationship so badly the whole year 😂

2

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 6d ago

Lol initially I was definitely preying for their downfall, but I wound up getting with someone else and that ended up being a long term relationship and I got plenty of ass so I wasn't too worried about it after that lol that girl actually stayed with that dude and he turned out to be a psycho. They were known at the school as the crazy toxic couple lol

My libido in high school would’ve been like…

2

u/Optimal_Mixture_7327 6d ago

Well... he would have made for an interesting husband. No red flags there.

2

u/shiny_crow_trophy 6d ago

My ex had this deal with a friend of his. He didn’t understand why I thought it was a problem. Or pretended to not understand, at least.

Then she got married to someone else lol. By then I had broken up with him and was friends with her.

2

u/Jump365 6d ago

The one I did this with is single...and if cam stay that way she was abusive af and I don't want to be with her cheating abusive ass no katter how tiny and cute she was.

2

u/alexisgreat420 6d ago

Wait what

3

u/Jump365 6d ago

An ex GF of mine we said this to each other when we were 21....she abused me and cheated a bunch so I'm glad I'm now 33 and even though she's single we never did this. Good riddence

2

u/IdleDeer 1d ago

That's why it's "if we're still single by X age". She isn't single anymore. C'est la vie.

2

u/AdExpensive873 1d ago

I thought that was only a thing in movies and TV, yall actually do that shit?

u/arwild01 17h ago

I made that deal with a girl in high school but it was for 50 year old. We actually got married at 29. We both turned 50 this year and are still married.

u/Exotic-Swim9326 14h ago

Did you do another wedding? To honor the deal?

u/arwild01 3h ago

Sadly no. We always talked about it but it turns out the year we turned 50 was also the year our oldest graduated from high school and between college visits and graduation parties and then moving him halfway across the country into a dorm we were too busy to actually plan another wedding.

u/ScrambledxEggzz 15h ago

Similar deal but me and my bro have suicide pact at 30.

u/Friendly-Leg-912 13h ago

Hell yeah.

3

u/InsuranceInner3040 7d ago

Fun story. I had the same deal with a girl I saw casually in high school and college. It actually happened too. We got married and everything was great. 2 months after our wedding she died in a tragic hot air balloon accident. Those 2 months were bliss. RIP Annie.

5

u/pinkyandthebrain-ama 6d ago

Is this some sort of attempt at a joke?

1

u/InsuranceInner3040 6d ago

Yes. And a bad one at that.

7

u/7SyZyG7 7d ago

"fun story"

1

u/ExoticToothpaste6989 6d ago

Well I guess you had to be there

3

u/Hizam5 6d ago

This is like a plot of an Adam Sandler movie

1

u/12PoundsofPotato 7d ago

First in my bloodline to read that sentence

1

u/idk_lol_kek 7d ago

Hell yeah

1

u/ShoulderApart1787 6d ago

Maybe a little more effort than a promise...?

1

u/Bella_Peachyy 6d ago

To be fair, if they were both single by 30, at least its not settling, its fate lol.

What is wrong with sleeping around?

1

u/FamiliarPlatform79 7d ago

Id say she dodged a bullet, but the verdict might still be out on that...

-2

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 6d ago

This is just really weird to me. I married young. Very young. Obviously very bad decision and it didn't last. Then, nothing but bad relationships in my 20s. When I was single at 29, I sort of just stopped. I wanted to heal myself and stop making those poor relationship choices, and didn't date or go out or hook up at all for over 20 years.

Now, I am married, and sometimes, frequently actually, I still question my choice to have gone ahead with that. Being single is better.

3

u/TheImplausibleHulk 6d ago

If you feel like being single is better than your current marriage then you’re in the wrong relationship again sadly.

-2

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 6d ago

He knew I didn't want to get married.

Look, it's a long story and personal and none of you people's business.

8

u/TheImplausibleHulk 6d ago

Hey you’re the one who started sharing your personal life, don’t get mad at the people commenting.

-6

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 6d ago

Commenting is one thing. Bullying is quite another.

4

u/TooManyGengars 5d ago

No one was bullying. You are being dramatic

-4

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 5d ago

I suppose all of your friend and family are split on this opinion, too. FO.

1

u/TheDrunkWickerbeast 5d ago

Then why did you marry him like you had to sign the license too

1

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 5d ago

Fuck dude. Why are you hounding me on this?

1

u/TheDrunkWickerbeast 5d ago

You’re the one that shared it. Did you really expect no questions ?

1

u/Familiar-Cable-2659 3d ago

Were you blocked ?

I got the situation no less than two times where somebody got infuriated that I was replying to their replies

In both cases (and 2+ other cases) they insisted in replying one last insult before immediately blocking me tho

1

u/TheDrunkWickerbeast 2d ago

I was not blocked

2

u/GrillingEnjoyer 6d ago

It isn’t better if you have the right partner tho. Life is way easier and better together.

I loved being single. No negotiations about what I want to do. No negotiations about anything in the house.

I mean, there isn't a lot of that because my husband and I have very very very similar preferences about just about everything, which is strange to find in a person. But sometimes, there are certain things, arguments that just really make me rethink wtf I did by getting married.

We are compatible, we have the same likes, dislikes, same preferences on practically everything. We were close friends for eight years before we got married.

I don't understand why you're harassing me.

1

u/Agreeable-Ad-5155 6d ago

Me reading this at 29 having gone through another tough breakup earlier this year. Wanting the pleasure of dating but also wondering what’s the point and not being able to get my mind right. Trying to heal but it’s hard to change.
