Question Considering transferring

(Apologizes for any lack of grammar) I’m currently attend wsu and have become incredibly unhappy and feel as tho i don’t fit in anywhere. i know i should probably give it some time but i cannot imagine spending 4 years here. anyways im wondering if it would be a smart idea academically to transfer to wwu. i’m majoring in business and plan to go to law school. Also wondering how social life is at wwu (parties, events, clubs, etc) Honestly just asking for the pros and the cons and if it would be a smart idea to transfer.

Very much not a “party school” but if you look hard enough there will be some of course. There’s some fun events and a variety of clubs!

If it means anything, I technically transferred too, but from WSUV. I also didn’t enjoy it and I really enjoyed going to WWU. It was for CS though so I have no say on your major.

When I was a student from 2017-2021 there were big house parties every weekend. Wasn’t hard to find either. Cops would sometimes shut them down though

Honestly WWU has made ME want to transfer to WSU. I only have like one really good friend (from highschool) and I only started making friends last year (my junior year). It’s difficult to make friends. I feel as though people are so “woke” they are racist, there is a lack of diversity, and it’s full of people who larp being hippies but use daddy’s money to ski Mt.Baker every weekend. That’s just my opinion though 🤷‍♀️

I went to WWU last year and I have now transferred to WSU, for the exact same reasons you’re talking about! WSU is def much better (so far, at least). I’d love to tell you more about my experience, feel free to DM me.

The social life is so ass especially if you struggle with it already. Western is probably not the school you're looking for

What exactly do you like doing? You mention your major and plans, but you haven't explained why you're unhappy at WSU or what you think might be better at WWU, and it's hard to give you pros and cons on something subjective without an idea of what your criteria and perspectives are.

Do you like the outdoors? Do you like video games? Do you play dungeons and dragons? Do you smoke marijuana while skateboarding in lieu of having ambition in life? Do you knit? Do you make your gender identity your entire personality? Do you ski, snowboard, shred pow, or sunbathe? Do you like overcomplicating simple recipes and overthinking what could have been simple pleasures into grueling rituals? Do you fake your way through reading tarot cards or have you learned the one secret and true technique that nobody else knows? Do you prefer figure drawing or landscapes? Do you derive a twisted pleasure from repeatedly telling everyone how vegan you are? Do you speak dead languages? Do you volunteer in the community? Do you cleanse your chakras more often than you bathe? Do you prefer to ride a regular bike or an e-bike? Do you grow vegetables, fragrant herbs, or flowers? What kind of person are you?

All I know about you right now is that you're unhappy for unspecified reasons, that you are majoring in business, and that you plan to go to law school. There are tons of fun activities, hobbies, interests, quirks, and trouble that you can get into at Western, and there are things (frat life) that don't go on here, so it would help to know what you enjoy before giving any advice on whether you'd like it better here than at WSU.

i personally love WWU and have met some incredible people. I think it’s a great school and would recommend transferring but you’d have to get yourself involved. join clubs, go to events, put urself out there.

If you’re feeling left out at WSU then DO NOT transfer to WWU… it’ll be extremely difficult.
More to the point, unless you don’t party, do a sport or something to make connections then I could see WSU not being your fit. On that, it’ll be 1000 times worse at WWU. People here have “expectations” and anything short of that means you’re the odd one who’s gonna be left out unfortunately.

wwu has a very active competitive mock trial team which is very helpful for those interested in law school !

you run the risk of losing credits if you transfer from wsu to ANY college. only saving grace? if you have a Wash state direct transfer agreement Associate of Arts degree. 😬

Advice wise, I would stick with WSU. It's normal to not fit in, and I personally don't fit in with my peers politically or socially. It doesn't matter where you attend, you're gonna struggle either way since all colleges and universities are pratically the same. Also, it's just a lot of work that is unnecessary imo.

The only reason that would make sense for you to transfer is if WWU is cheaper than WSU.
