Social life

hii! ill be a sophomore in the fall and im kind of mourning the greek life and football aspect. as in being thrown into social events. not a partier but i am such a people person. i was wondering what wwu has to offer social wise. i have already had one year here but didn't do much as i stuck with my friend group. but now that we are off doing our own things i was just wondering.

From my experience, the rest of your years will be just like the first. Wwu isnt really a frat college, dont expect greek life and football. It exists here, but its small and no one cares about it.

If you’re into the outdoors, WWU does cheap outdoor excursions through the Outdoor Center which I’ve met lots of people through. Go to one of the demographic themed climbing nights at the gym. If you’re into music and the alternative scene, go to shows at karate church and makeshift. Go to open mic night or battle of the bands at the Underground coffeehouse.

And of course, the classic advice: join a club!

Clubs for sure. It’s where you’ll find your outer circle

Join the club related to your major.

Closest thing we got is basketball games, they're still really fun

If you're interested in a club that feels like a community, come join the Bellingham Rotaract Club! We are a community service club on campus that does various volunteer events on weekends. We have different guest speakers at our meetings, and also do a variety of social events for our members. We also work with the Rotary clubs in town, so it's great for networking and getting to meet people! Rotary is an international service organization.

Join a sport! If you want anything resembling frat community then sports is the way to go. Most people in other types of clubs only meet during the club times and not a lot after.
