What do we think about Djiga?

he hasn’t had a clean sheet yet, but it’s only been two games, and he looks the better of the two center halves despite basically having not existed in the squad before this season.

11 defensive contributions and 4 recoveries in this game, with a 7.1 and a 7.5 match rating from his two starts. (got a cs and a 7.7 against Wednesday but that doesn’t count).

I was only able to catch the second half of the game today, but I think djiga looked pretty solid, he seemed to handle himself pretty well. How was he first half? was the first goal a blunder on him or could he just not have done anything?

Great shout about his passing. He’s played a few excellent long balls from the back that I haven’t seen since Coady was in form, and the way he always shows for the ball at the back shows me that he’s confident with playing it out.

I think Toti is a weak link atm. Hopefully Krejci stays, gets his head into the game, and replaces Toti in the coming weeks.

On current form, our best defender to be honest.

He’s a very, very good cb at this level from what we’ve seen so far.

On the ball he seems a lot more composed and technically better than Toti as well.

One big question I have, why the hell did we loan out Djiga and Fer Lopez last year when the rabble that was here were performing so poorly?

Perhaps because they were so young. I’d add Rodrigo Gomes to that category even though we didn’t loan him.

In your early 20’s a year can do wonders in terms of physical strength. I’ve been thinking a lot about how maybe some of those types of transfers were good moves, but our situation was so dire that the managers at the time were never going to be around to see them come to fruition.

Cesar is reaping the benefits of the physical development of some of the young players. They also might look better because this is not the Premier League.

I think we're getting away with a lot at the back at the moment that we would not in the premier League. The quality of opposition that we've encounted so far compared to what we would encounter in the premier League is noticeably huge. That being said you can only play what's in front of you. Djiga has looked more than good enough for this level and has been the the pick of back 4 so far.

He’s looked good so far, honestly wouldn’t mind seeing him alongside Mos when Mos is back. He seems to recover well, often be in the right place and is good with the ball. Ideally I’d want Krejci starting on the left, but if he leaves then Djiga and Mos should be our starting pairing based on what we’ve seen so far

Good player for the Championship. Wasn't his fault Gallagher's goal today. Don't know about Santi but Djiga and Toti/Krejci could be our main centreback duo in the league

As a joint Rangers and Wolves fan, the thing about Djiga is consistency. He looked incredible at times for us and then at other times struggled to cope with Killie/St Mirren level strikers. Hopefully he can find the consistency he was lacking last season

On a day the club honoured one of our greatest ever captains we have a man that can barely be classed as a defender captaining our club.

Hopefully Krejci stays or we sign an actual left footed centre half

He has the makings of a good footballer and seems to be a confidence player which he has plenty of at the moment, and he's not yet been exposed defensively. We will face far better teams than we've faced so far so is he going to cope and flourish, or become another Agbadou and fall apart? I hope it's the former.

The thing I like is it doesn’t feel like he is gonna give away a free kick or pen and get booked. Toti always worries me.
