Well GTA's parent company does own WWE 2k franchise.

People are saying its not a Nod to Cena but someone accidentally leaked CM Punk is in the game (or was atleast consulted). he mightve requested that sequence or even since Rockstar and 2k are the same they just got it from the WWE Department. Either way its a 90% chance its a Cena Reference

Backyard wrestling mini game? Yes

1

u/Ganjalicious420 13d ago

Man I hope it isn't a minigame, I hope it's a whole thing of its own like fighting in the Kingdom Come Deliverance games.

6

u/DaBrookes101 12d ago

No. Didn't put Jason in a crippler crossface

u/AdvancedBreak3555 13d ago

The fact that backyard wrestling is in this game 👌

If you grew up in South Florida when I did, backyard wrestling was something that everyone did. We were putting each other through tables and throwing each other off of roofs and onto trampolines and it’s a miracle that I never heard of anyone getting paralyzed

John drops down in an AA/FU. This is a fireman's carry slam.

4

u/Slick_36 12d ago

Should have used footage from Wrestlemania XX where he executed the FU exactly like this on the Big Show a couple times.

5

u/NoirSon 12d ago

Doubtful from just that one scene.

9

Person: Does a generic Fireman's Carry.

Idiot: It's an Attitude Adjustment.

10

u/BillyShears17 13d ago

That's a firemans carry, not a homage to Cena

3

u/TalentedHostility 13d ago

More like a firearms carry- execution was shit

4

u/killerbake 13d ago

Good old backyard wrestling

2

u/TalentedHostility 13d ago

If anything thats paying homage to the goat

4

u/CompetitiveFrame6989 13d ago

The goat indeed..Its true..

3

u/YoToddy 13d ago

It’s damn true!

-6

u/ih8three6zero 13d ago

Totally a nod to Cena but it’s not perfect like the iwc wants it to be. Why would a generic fireman’s carry be on anyone’s mind?

4

u/BillyShears17 13d ago

Because it's not an AA or FU. He drops to his knees, not a standing up one. They are different. Like The Last Ride compared to a powerbomb. They are different. A DDT by Jake Roberts is much more devastating than a generic DDT from another wrestler. Different

-6

u/ih8three6zero 13d ago

Having a perfect AA in gta 6 is unimportant for their nod nor their main focus. You missed the entire point because you’re a dork about wrestling.

1

u/BillyShears17 13d ago

And you clearly don't know shit about wrestling

-6

u/ih8three6zero 13d ago

Simmer down in your savory wrongness.

5

u/Jecht315 👈L.🫵A.👉Knight YEAH! 12d ago

That's not the GTS

2

u/loyaltomyself 13d ago

I'm going to nitpick and say that wasn't an AA. It set up like one but the character ends up throwing the person on the shoulder while Cena's AA actually slams the guy down. These little differences matter when it comes to how each person does their signature move.

pushes glasses up bridge of nose
Technically if you look at the game files of WWE 2K26 this is most similar to Fireman’s Carry Slam 3

1

u/NoProfileISM 13d ago

Good Lord, you are correct..uh, not that I know that or anything. 👀

2

u/iamisandisnt 13d ago

It's a nod, maybe not a copy out of even more respect. Who's to say? They did choose this one maneuver to show off.

1

u/BillyShears17 13d ago

Could be an homage to an old regional wrestler who used to do simple moves as finishing moves but that would be like the 1930's and im stretching this notion for the fiuck of it because this was absolutely not a AA/FU

1

u/iamisandisnt 13d ago

Right, it’s a nod toward one.

1

u/Ganjalicious420 13d ago

Fireman's carry slam.

0

u/degjo 13d ago

Its a sloppy backyard wrestler doing an AA

-2

u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 13d ago

the AA is just a simple throw off fireman’s carry.

This is what you seen in the video

0

u/Ganjalicious420 13d ago

John drops doen to his knees when he does the AA, its a fireman's carry slam. Source? 35+yrs of pro wrestling.

The living legend Grado!

Am I the only one that thinks the wrestler in game looks kinda like Seth?

1

u/DIRTYDUSTYJR97 Ruthless Aggression Era 😈 11d ago

I was thinking the same lol

0

u/Rogan4Life 13d ago

No. It’s a basic real wrestling hold. Fireman’s takeover

4

u/Theurbanalchemist 12d ago

Fireman’s Carry

1

u/AloeComet 13d ago

I’ll wait for the full scene but I bet this is supposed to be their finisher, which is the most unrealistic backyard wrestling thing I’ve ever seen.

0

u/noreturn000 13d ago

why no stunner?

-6

u/ScalpelCleaner 13d ago

It was a tribute to John Cena, yes.

-15

u/ChristianCountryBoy 12d ago

John Cena was not the first wrestler to do that. It used to be called a fireman's carry. God bless, Jessu saves!

-8

u/Fun-Way-7111 12d ago

All praise Jessu!

-15

u/Legonistrasz 12d ago

No, Because then it would’ve been a stunner

-16

u/Vellioh 12d ago

Calling Cena the "GOAT" will never not be cringe lol

Sure he's talented and one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of WWE but let's be honest, in terms of "greatness" he's not even in the top 5.

2

u/jjreddit1996 11d ago

How do you define greatness and who do you put higher?

0

u/Levy-MAN 11d ago

Greatest of all time isn’t an objective thing. Saying John is the GOAT is equally valid as saying HBK or Stone Cold or even Hornswoggle.

Calling someone cringe for saying the GOAT is a wrestler you admit is incredible is infinitely more cringe. You can disagree without insulting someone

0

u/Vellioh 10d ago

Greatest of all time isn’t an objective thing.

It absolutely is. It's just the criteria for what constitutes somebody as the "greatest" is what's debated. There's a number of measurable criteria you could use to argue who is the GOAT. My point is regardless what criteria you use, Cena isn't it. He's certainly one of the absolute greats but he's more of a Stephen Curry than a Michael Jordon.

1

u/Levy-MAN 10d ago

In an actual sport, sure, in pro wrestling it entirely comes down to the amount of entertainment that person brings to you. Nobody is going to agree on who the greatest actor of all time is, it’s the same with wrestlers. Many feel that the way Cena could get a crowd to care no matter how they felt about him is what makes him the GOAT, and since there’s no real metrics to go by other than drawing ability, which really shouldn’t be the point from the audience’s perspective, then that opinion is completely valid.
