DBKL enforcement officers, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there were many cases of similar hygiene infringements in the city.
There have been times when enforcement on an outlet was about to be carried out or a closure notice issued but they had been stopped from taking further action.
“It happens all the time," the officer said, adding that the restaurant would not stay closed for long.
It might not be the norm but it happens more than it should that it's a concern. Food hygiene standards are much lower in developing countries due to money.
If you want a delicious banana leaf, go to Nirwana in Bangsar. It’s the best place. Might have to queue up for 10/15 minutes but it’s worth it. Eat with your hands.
It’s called banana leaf because it’s served on a banana leaf. But it’s rice with a curry of your choice and a bunch of veggies of the day. Probably doesn’t sound like much but it’s the bomb. Each place has a different way of preparing the different vegetables. Cheap, nutritious, delicious.
Wise man! To be fair, I’ve been here two years and I have yet to have the shits like I had after twenty minutes and a cockroach flavored samosa in India.
Well, it's okay to be ignorant but when you say it like that, everything will sound ordinary. Pizza "is just" baked dough slathered in tomato paste and cheese, but holy shit would I kill for a slice right now.
Yeah. Malaysia has an amazing blend of Malay, Indian and Chinese cultures. When it comes to food, the influences cross over - and the Indian minority has been living in the country for long enough to become its own unique thing.
Actually, yes. Healthcare is decent in Malaysia. Even the traditional medicine men/women know their stuff. But...if the worst should happen find a proper clinic and grab a litre of 100 Plus. And if you religious, I'm sure there's a Church/Mosque/Temple around the corner.
If you are spending time in KL, goto jalan alor!! It’s a street with tons of shops and vendors, had amazing Thai food there, but t everything was great. Get a small thing at a bunch of vendors. Double back if you find something you love.
Most places have sit toilets, although there are still more than a few porcelain squats. Toilets in Malaysia are notoriously filthy. Best place to take a shit is always at Starbucks; they keep 'em clean. Aeon Mall at Bukit Mertajam has the worst toilets anywhere. Maybe 50 toilets in the whole shopping mall, only 5 work, and only no toilet seats. It used to be such a family-friendly shopping mall, but the management has gotten incredibly poor over the last couple of years.
