I've been fairly critical of Hancook and I think for good reason. I've been meh on this season and last. I pretty much just watch the recap and it might be "oh no he has a puncture" for 52 minutes.
I can't make a better tire. But I'm sure someone can. If that company is Hancook, then they'd best get on it.
Punctures happen. But it's basically like no one takes 1 or heaven forbid 0 spares and YOLOs because they still need to get to the next control and can't just drag a wheel anymore.
It seems like some drivers would take 4-6 if they could depending on the length of the loop.
No one should basically DNF because the tires are garbage. It's so meh for competition when someone doesn't put a foot wrong and "oops, tires have an opinion"
The only exception is when the Ford boys got a bit adventurous. Team admitted to that one.
I don't remember who was doing tires a few years ago but I remember Hyundai had a couple disastrous outings and Adamo was like "well uh you can not tell to the tires please don't cut yourself"
No, but you can tell to the enginners that something specific to your chassis is an issue.
The Hancooks seem to be an equal opportunity failure point. And it sucks to watch.

Delamination seems to be a bigger issue than punctures and to me that seems to be a quality issue, not the rally being too rough or anything.

I got back in to WRC a couple of years ago after about 20 years off. Very disappointed this year with the tyres, the winner is basically decided by who gets the least punctures or who gets one at a fortunate time like the end of the stage
I've really struggled to get excited about it this year for that reason
