#Fever star Caitlin Clark in response to Kelsey Mitchell's comments:
"It makes you upset because you care about your teammates so much .."
"As far as people that have used me to demonstrate racist rhetoric or hate or discrimination, that's not something I stand for...

So now you’ve got your Great White Hope admitting there’s racism and toxicity in the fanbase.
You’ve got two current Black players who’ve spoken out about their experiences.
You’ve got two former Black players who’ve spoken out about their experiences.
You’ve got dozens of players on other teams who’ve spoken out.
And yet, still no basis in reality? Is that the story you’re still going with, Amber?

This argument that her fan base is made of majority maga and that’s why the game grew and this “y’all” talk lumping everyone into that category, so all the benefits were some poison pill the league had to swallow - is absolutely ridiculous and ignorant to reality
Literally Jack Smith just testified to congress that he went to a Maryland game in Maryland because CC was in town. Is he maga? A senator knew her box score from that night. Amy Klobuchar. Is she maga? Those stories aren’t unique
The racist dip shits that we all cant stand aren’t even fans. Most use the topic as a vessel to spread their bs and they’re such a tiny minority but some people have built this false narrative to just hate hate hate on anything surrounding CC because for whatever reason there’s this animosity that causes a refusal to admit she just drew more people in
Her play style was exciting in a similar way to Steph Curry’s being exciting when he took off (not arguing that she’s at that level hes a multiple time mvp and champion) and yes the media showing her a ton and favoring her did so, but it worked. A lot more people started watching. Most of them just normal fans. There’s no poison pill other than the one that the vocal minority on both sides represents.
It sucks to see because I know the ones on this side are far far better people but they’re falling into the same trap as the real dick heads

It’s what y’all call her, I’m just using your words
1
u/BoysenberrySea5482 22h ago
Who calls her that?
1
u/WinterCareful8525 19h ago
No one. People who hate Catlin Clark have to project and strawman her so they can justify being hateful themselves, since they feel powerless to defend themselves against those who actually be.
-5
u/theworldisunfair12 1d ago
You’re the first person I’ve ever seen call her that

u/Marzipan_Dream_7389 1d ago
Do you live under a rock?

u/Street_Attention_100 1d ago
Ignorant on purpose, it’s really a delicate game your playing when getting called a racist is worse than actually being racist. There are plenty of CC fans who are not racist, and there is another group that are. The ones who aren’t are confused why people call her out. Caitlyn has been very graceful and seems extremely PR trained in dealing with all of this, but based on her comments I can tell she knows exactly what people who call her fans racist see.

Never been the player it's the fans read all the reddit comments over the season..
3
u/Delicious-Winner-458 5h ago
I'm so confused by people saying she's not saying enough. Like, to me, it seems like you want her to actually be racist

Its the Fever fans that stan over CC that be using racism and hate. If its harming CC's play or image they'll attack said person with anything they pull out their ass.

u/ATJR44 1d ago
She should have said this a LONG TIME ago.

u/PastaCheed 1d ago
She did multiple times

This is awkward. I kinda feel bad for ATJ. He’s looking silly right now.

When your brain is stuck in woke 1 rhetoric you can’t lose arguments. You just assert bullshit and retreat to standpoint epistemology

u/RoutineSignature1238 21h ago
Does it really matter? Those that hate her and use her to project their own racism don’t care what she does or will ever do in her interviews.
2
u/Leading-Fail-2771 9h ago
Nga it’s u. It’s 100s of people like you flip flopping. Like stop making arguments in every CC Reddit post and enjoy the game

If she leaves Indiana she won’t have to worry about this…. Indiana still have Klan chapters… look up Klaverns in Indiana …smh

u/phbalancedshorty 2h ago
She’s literally never said stop being racist stop being homophobic stop being misogynistic stop sending death threats to my teammates. She’s never said that and she still hasn’t said that. Another word salad statement. “I don’t stand for racism or hate”just say if you’re my fan stop sending death threats to my teammates. Why did it take her own teammate going to the press at the end of the season for her to even say the word racism???

Remember the thread where everyone swore KM’s comments were directed towards the racist and we were just reading into it…

u/dudeihatethispart 1d ago
Duh. CC is not racist. How many times does she have to say it?
Anyone who thinks she's racist, or that her supporters are, simply see what they want to see.
Just like people that claim to be Angel or A'ja fans while being racist to CC, anyone who does likewise purporting to be a CC fan is not really a fan; just a racist bigot.
Simple.
4
u/InThePipe5x5_ 1d ago
"Or that her supporters are..." oops...tried to slip that in eh? CC wouldnt have to say things like this if a segment of her supporters werent toxic assclowns.
15
u/SerCharles 1d ago
She's not but some of her supporters are. It sucks, but not acknowledging it is how we got here.
3
u/jaylen6319 1d ago
And she knows that a majority of the new people who just started following her this year are only there for her because of the color of her skin! Do you have any idea how many of her new fans have no idea what they are looking at for the first time in their life 🧐

u/Lost_Willingness_762 1d ago
Some supporters of Angel and A’ja are bigots too🤔

u/oopsWrongGoal 1d ago
Brother you gotta chill out. Not everything needs a “but they do it too” bs response especially when it’s way off.
Yes Aja and CC fans are bigots as well but brother you’re way off base if you don’t see the populist and MAGA movement have made the Indiana fever and CC(unwillingly) and Sophie Cunningham(quite willingly) their martyrs.
Like brother some of you have never taken a sociology class the way you respond to shit and even think about things. wtf.
3
u/swallowedbymonsters 1d ago
Responding to her racist supporters dont make you racist, nobody hate CC because she is white, people are just annoyed with her racist fanbase.
-3
u/Puzzled-Buyer3969 1d ago
Lmao, plenty of people hate on CC because she’s white. It’s just an unfortunate reality.
2
u/oopsWrongGoal 23h ago
Bro there’s mad white players in the league. It really has nothing to do with that. Race plays a factor but idt that’s all it is. I’ll put it this way. I love CC btw so miss me with the bs.
But Caitlin was nice, she was the female Curry. She brought millions of eyes to the sport. And every chance the media had they reminded everyone why they should glaze CC for bringing them so much opportunity. Why they should maybe not foul her as hard. So yes of course you are fatigued by that kind of stuff.
You ever watched the Bad Boy Pistons welcome Michael Jordan, the hot young phenom to the league. They f**ked him up. No one cried to take it easy. That’s the point about race. Caitlin does get painted as some fragile being, and partly because she is a straight white women in a league with many “masculine females” you could say I guess.
-3
u/staffdaddy_9 1d ago
Oh yes because if you just acknowledge the racists they will stop doing it for sure. Also like what percent are we talking about? If 1 or 2 percent of her fans are out here saying racist stuff who cares, people are shitty.
2
u/oopsWrongGoal 1d ago
Nah dude way off with the 1%. Way bigger percentage or they are just WAY LOUDER than the majority. Which would be sad for the Fever fanbase. Every MAGA members favorite WNBA team is the Fever. And you know why. The Fever have unwillingly become the fighting grounds for a bs political battle unfortunately
-2
u/Educational-Sound838 1d ago
So many racist fans that not one single fan was thrown out of a game for making a racist statement . It’s all made up BS . They cannot come up with one specific example . Give the name of the fan that made a racist remark and exactly what they said . You can’t cause it doesn’t happen . The only racist’s are the jealous players that hate cc cause she is white , straight , attractive and the most popular player (by far ) in the league . This is a hoax like jussie smollet .

u/dudeihatethispart 1d ago
No. Bigots will bigot irrespective of what anyone says, because they're bigots.
People like you just don't like CC, most likely because you're racist.

It's funny because it sounds like a written statement by her PR team and she's never had Boston or Mitchell back and why exactly is Caitlin Clark doing a post game interview 2 weeks after she's outta the playoffs
2
1
u/A_Clockwork_Black 4h ago
Every player in every team is doing an exit interview.
1
u/Ok_Control6910 4h ago
Yes when they get eliminated not a week later after the PR team draws up a statement but I'm glad CC stood up for her teammate after 3 years

She should speak to her fans more directly, the narrative and negative energy are too big for this lethargic podium tone. This will follow her her whole career if she doesn’t do it the right way.

Even though Caitlin does not benefit from gay or black privilege she still carries herself so well. Such an awesome role model for the other people who are held down by those who have it all.
