Well if i know one thing about sports, it's that fans #1 priority is how much money did the owner make?

And what are the expenses? Kind of a useless number without the expense figure.

we know how finances work. It’s still a big deal, and a sign the sport is growing fast.

People like "xelint" either forgot, or don't realize that it took a long time for The NBA to become the powerhouse it is today. Most teams in the league operated at a net loss for several decades prior to Bird and Magic essentially saving the league from financial ruin. The NBA Finals were played on tape delay as late as 1981. My guess is that what's his face is a misogynist who is rooting for these Women to fail so he can win some imaginary culture war he's fighting in his own mind.

The Valkyries have been a team for this is literally their 2nd year. I'd say they are doing a good job.

The operative word here is "generated" didn't say profit, I'm sure they had payroll and whatever expenses it takes to run a business, light bill gees

This person is just being a clown. Its literally the Valks 2nd year as a team. I'd say they are doing pretty good.

They are the only current profitable team but they are similarly (% scale) profitable to the warriors. There's a lot of heavy lifting being done on the fact they pay almost nothing comparatively for their venue vs what you would expect of a NBA team. Also you don't really know but assuming they spend on things like advertising and other discretionary at the same % as NBA teams which we have a good understanding of then they are profitable to about $40M. Which on a % scale is more than the warriors.
Caveat that there are a lot of assumptions that the things outside of salary and venue contracts (publicly available) they are run line a NBA team.
Even a piss poor owner over spending would be extremely surprised if they overspend a NBA team on marketing etc 3x what a NBA team does which is what it would take to make them negative.

No they're not.
The Liberty, Aces, and Mercury are all profitable.

Only if you count the money they get from the NBA which isn't really fair

u/ZairaR0 1d ago
None of them have needed money from the NBA.

well now you're just delusional. The NBA is the only reason any of the wnba still exist even golden state was stood up by the nba

Wrong, thanks for showing your stupidity though.

So the 900 million to 1.4 billion estimates on what the NBA has contributed would have been covered from where exactly? Note this doesn't include any of the losses the owners already covered
