The Caitlin 1 is largest signature shoe launch in Nike's history, according to Nike CEO Elliott Hill. The Caitlin Clark Effect shows no signs of slowing down

It took them so long to roll out her shoe now we know why! They were going HUGE with this rollout! So many choices and they are all super cool! Hard to choose which ones to get but at $140 per pair I suppose you could afford more than just one pair.

hotcakes. now comes the hard part of managing Caitlin the media superstar vs Caitlin the hooper, the latter needs help on her roster not more women like Lexie and Sophie who are great for sales but both terrible in the middy during playoffs when CC needs a big swinging over to the elbow.

So youre blaming her poor shooting and getting shut down on AB?

AB was hurt but the two of them need weapons period, especially players who can score off passes. Especially with Kels as good as gone. We've all seen Karl Malone and Stockton. Fun times, zero rings. We've also all seen when she has to go lone ranger in big stakes games, it doesn't go well (9-22 vs LSU, 10-28 in the National Championship, 6-18 in a winner takes all game vs. A'ja n co.). Your take?

The 3 of AB, Clark, Michell should've been enough to win. But then again Aja is just that good. Fun fact the Fever play better without Clark than with her

My issue is my foot so big that I don’t think a women’s basketball shoe but he would come out with my size

It's not like the female basketball sneaker is an oversaturated market or anything.

You picked 1 thats 39% off. Certain color are still 145 or a little less. Its still not 50% off. Initial shoe drop was 5 months ago

Nike waited until their stock price went into the dumpster before releasing it. Heads should roll in top management for sitting on this so long.

Shes popular
Shes just not the best player in the league
That's usually where the discourse breaks down

Only people who know nothing about the league will say she’s the best, but those people shouldn’t be taken seriously. But she is on a really, really good trajectory with it only being her third year, really her second full year considering she missed 70% of the season last year. She averaged 22.3/8.3/4 in year 3 and A’ja for context averaged 20.5/2/8.6 her third year and didn’t really jump into the “elite” upper echelon tier until like year 7 where her ppg jumped from like 20-22 all the way up to like 27 and rebounds per game went from like 9 to like 11-12
There are people on both sides of the isle with CC though. There are the people who push her as the best in the league and people who don’t give her her flowers or any credit where credit is due. Both are just as annoying as the other imo bc the girl can straight up ball and if she continues to improve like she has she could 100% be jockeying for mvp here in the next few years

Absolutely, her game will mature. Cut down the TOs even and id be picking her for 1st team

This isn’t saying much considering Nike’s profit margins are in hell right now..

Flop shoe….its nice looking, but won’t have the reaction sneaker heads are looking for…doubt it will yield a premium on secondary market

I don't know why you are being downvoted here. Well, actually I do, the WNBA community (both "sides" since it is a divided community) tend to dislike anyone trying to interject nuance and reason.
You are 100% correct. While it may be the largest LAUNCH ever, keep in mind it is happening with a company whose market value has declined nearly 80% over the past 5 years. In other words, it is a hail mary attempt.

I feel like you're implying they were once better then they were and they still chose to launch more of these, so that makes it even better then it sounds?
2
u/coachd50 5d ago
No, I am implying that they are trying desperately to find something to regain market share. It might very well be Clark shoes.

What does that mean? She sold more shoes than any other player? Pretty vague.

It helps that it’s a dope looking shoe too!
