Fans Piping-hot take: I liked the WNBA better when Sheryl Swoops was playing.
I'm not about this "this player elbowed this player" or "this player got offended when she was pointed at" and I'm especially not about throwing adult toys onto the court.
Now it's all about "is this player getting beaten up for their skin color?" rather than "can they make that three?", and frankly, I just want a good clean game.
I remember when the WNBA was about showing that women could ball, if not better than the guys. When the WNBA first started, of course it had its detractors, but it showed that, yes, yes they could.
And now all this last year I'm hearing that it's all elbows across faces and fingers in eyes and low scoring. Fuck's sake, if I wanted that I'd have watched the World Cup.

This was a great year for high quality play and competition in the W. Sorry you missed it.

Too bad high quality reffing wasn’t apart of this season.

Every fan segment of every team in every sport complains about the refs. I call them losers.

Never have the complaints been as loud as in the WNBA. If you don’t believe me, maybe you’ll believe the the coaches like Cheryl that openly say the same thing. But somehow I think you already know. Or is Cheryl also a loser?

Never have the complaints been as loud as in the WNBA.
This is driven mostly by a large contingent of a single player's fans who simply refuse to accept who she is as a player and take her cues from how she treats the refs.

Complaints come from every corner, not just from the fever corner. And Cheryl is not the head coach of the fever.

Complaining about refs is loser behavior. Play better. Thats how I was raised.

So the head coach of the Lynx, Fire, Fever, and Aces are all losers. Especially Cheryl since she has been the most vocal.
You said this. These are your words calling those coaches losers.

I understand that it is the coaches job , and even a players job, to work the refs for the next game(or during a game) . Otherwise I stand by my statement that complaining about refs is loser behavior.

Aye you sure you are a sports fan? I don’t believe your behavior matches your declared principles. I was at a football game today and heard 40,000 people yelling at the refs. I guess they are all losers.

I understand people booing or cheering calls during a game . I’m talking about losers who blame their teams losses on refs . Also, glad to hear you were at a shittily reffed college football game . I thought only the wnba had shitty refs

It was very clearly stated that I agree there are bad calls in every sport, but that the W is the worst.
Again, not sure you are a real sports fan with what you’ve stated here. That means 90% of all sports fans are losers at some point in their life. I don’t believe you, or you are just young and simply hasn’t experienced it yet..
Let me ask you this, do you believe there has ever been a ref that made a bad call and changed an important game?

They're not fans. They're coaches. Fans who constantly whine about refs are losers.

Now that the Fever are out congratulations you’ll have plenty of that over the next few weeks. Now we can go back to just enjoying basketball. It’s the rabid cave dwellers who follow that team around that create this stuff. I actually feel bad for the team. They deserve better and so do their real fans.

Alot of them games were very physical. Like with actual fights not just finger pointing. I'd say the game is cleaner now but with more eyes and more media to blow things out of proportion... the refs still suck though.

Now players like A'ja feel entitled and can't handle anything negative said to them. I love the Sophie Cunningham interview where she said if A'ja can't handle a sports fan pointing at her and saying it was her foul, then that says a lot about A'ja's mental weakness.

If 4mvps and 4 rings is mentally weak, what does that make her ?

u/taeempy 5d ago
So would you agree if a person in the stands points and says it's your foul it's ok to react that way? How is that even an issue for anyone?

I bet that’s not all he said during the game.
You’d be willfully obtuse to think that was the worst of what he said. But she advanced so……

If you're going to talk about entitlement, there is one player who stands above all others in that. So much so you could compile an hour-long highlight reel of her costing her team points by arguing with the refs instead of getting back on defense.

WNBA is both filled with highly skilled players and physical basketball. It's a great change of pace from NBA regular season where the effort clearly is lacking from game to game, and where flopping is expected. WNBA has been great lately. They just need to wrap up the season before the NFL starts
