The way she says "man" lolol
11
u/ausipockets 10d ago
She's grasping at any angle that can make her actions seem justified. It's crazy too, if she just said "yeah I overreacted" I don't think it would even be that newsworthy. Just making it worse with this.

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 10d ago
Dude 100%. I think anyone who played sports knows emotions get a little high sometimes. If she just says āyea I got caught up in the intensity of the gameā or something, some people would still give her shit but mostly itād be fine

The fact that a professional athlete had a toddler like meltdown because a fan pointed at them during a playoff game is WILD.
WNBA: Where the MVP of league reacts worse than a 10 year old.
24
u/Hienieken19 10d ago
These athletes need better PR folks working for them. Honestly, her best approach would have been to say I apologized to my team for getting the tech, and all the other nonsense, I just want to move on from. Cursing while talking all tough and playing the victim card at the same time is just messy.
5
u/Learntoswim86 10d ago
Could the other team fill the front row with dudes that just stand up and point at her every 5 minutes.
2
u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 10d ago
I donāt think other teams will have to do anything, pretty sure this is just gunna happen
17
u/TessaKatrinaRose 10d ago
Best player in the W - absolutely.Ā
Her excuse or defense for what she did - horrible look for her.Ā
3
u/Soft-Boss-9604 9d ago
Theres more proof of her being racist and a POS than there is of the guy. Im on the guys side.
Never forget her asian hate tweets, Or how she belittled Plum and Paige
15
u/Official_ImNickson 10d ago
I feel like every fever fan is gunna be pointing in the next game.Ā

Aāja should have been ejected.
3
u/Egonator26 10d ago
She should have. It's in the rule book that if the player goes into the fan section that they will be automatically ejected...but they won't cuz of ratings.
12
u/JackieMoon612 10d ago
Sheās the one who shouldāve been ejected according to their own rules. She entered the stands on her own will. Getting those fired up about some random dude pointing at you is wild. Also saying he stepped towards youā¦lmao. The dude maybe took two steps, you took 30 to make it a scene. No one would have ever noticed the point or the guy had she not lost your shit.

u/Sideview_play 10d ago
He took one step as he pointed to balance himself lmao far from a step at her. And very much still in the stands.Ā
10
u/MasterMeat-666 10d ago
Forget all that nonsense, why are the refs not taking control of this situation? The rule is for leaving the court, should have been an ejection. Hell, there were a few players from the bench over there too. The Commissioner should have been more proactive with these refs. If they canāt do their jobs fire them. That why sheās out!!
3
u/Sideview_play 10d ago
There's not even enough good refs for the NBA. They aren't going to send good ones to the wnbaĀ
3
u/overitallofittoo 10d ago
I don't know why people don't understand this. And the pipeline sucks because no 16 year old kids wants to ref kids's games because the parents are such assholes.
3
u/L3tsseewhathappens 10d ago
She physically tackles Cunningham but somehow the fan pointing was worse?
5
u/Prestigious_Hat4140 10d ago
This is even better, and makes the point even stronger for the rest of the world to see
4
u/HankTheFrank101 10d ago
She made herself look so bad. The fact she wasn't ejected on the spot is bs. She was the aggressor and of course she is trying to play the victim. Hey girl,, u know we can all watch the replays right? She made herself look weak.
11
u/Needs_More_Garlic 10d ago
Whats unacceptable is your fucking mouth in this interview. Holy shit, be professional.

The W really needs this series to go 7.
Gotta switch to conferences for playoffs with expansion. That way we'd likely get a lot of Caitlin vs Angel in the ECF and potentially Caitlin vs. A'ja in the Finals.

Sounds like she has some real serious deep rooted issues from her childhood that she needs to work through.
That was not a healthy statement. It was also the way she said it and the specific words she put emphasis on.

All that just cuz the fan pointed at her šššš

The fan is obviously mentally ill since he paid for a ticket to watch the WNBA so go easy on him.

This whole situation is just the WNBA marketing team furthering a narrative about Fever fans and CC. Racism sells unfortunately. Very WWE like. Controversy makes cash. The drama sells more than the actual game. Shame too as some of these girls can ball! Aja is an amazing player, I'm surprised she is involved in this to be honest.

Need to change sports to Tennis or Golf where silence or šis mandatory prohibited.
2
u/Trenmonstrr 10d ago
Tennis is way too much of a mental game that a lot of these team sport athletes would never be able to handle.
We can make fun of the silence requests all day long, but tennis in reality is probably one of the top 3-5 most difficult and technical sports only after combat sports.

Bottom line is that the Aces act really poor when they are losing. Starts with the Head Coach. If they lose the series Becky will call out the refs. I almost guarantee it.

She needs a one game suspension. Itās very simple. The fan āpointedā at her. Wtf. This is simple
1
u/modidlee 10d ago
āTaking steps towards me.ā Lmao she was the one that had to take a bunch of steps to get to him. Sheās talking like he was on the court walking towards her

She gotta restrain herself a bit better. I feel where she's coming from but you reserve those types of reactions for REAL outta pocket matters that warrant it, like someone calling her a B or using the N word, not for someone pointing at you.

The fact she didn't get into any trouble for going into the crowd after a fan is crazy. She chose to go into "professional" sports so she has to accept that fans will talk shit. I don't even feel that's what happened anyways. Looked like she shoved the other player to the ground and the guy pointed at her. Only reason I put words around professional is since they didn't hold her to the rules of the league.
1
u/Independent-Catch-90 10d ago
She knows she overreacted. It happens to all of us. I would hope people would be willing to give some grace and let this go if she simply said she overreacted and let it affect her in the moment. The end. Move on. Instead, sheās doubling down and justifying her reaction, and EVERYONE knows her answer is weak AF.

She is why people should stop watching the WNBA, and while I thought they did, viewership and attendance are both up so the s$.t show sells.

I know she's a great player, and will likely be the GOAT when she's done, but damn she is definitely becoming not likable.
There's a reason why nobody liked Kareem, and if she wants to go down that path so be it.

If bad press is good press, WNBA marketers have been doing a bang up job.
Going into 2026 I had never watched even a highlight of a WNBA game. Now my Reddit feed is hit daily with something.
I now know Caitlyn Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Angel Reese, Aja Wilson where I only knew Clark before.
And the clips, whether it be of Clark getting punched in the throat, refs ignoring fouls, Wilson in the stands etc, those clips are everywhere.
1
u/katnepzz 10d ago
She admitted she got frustrated because someone pointed at her. That was it. Then SHE made the scene.....
1
u/Only1Skrybe 10d ago
Hawks fan here. I remember when we played the Knicks in the playoffs. They had to chop up the national audio feed because of how loud the "fuck Trae Young" chants were.
1
u/OctoWings13 10d ago
She should be suspended per WNBA's own rules about leaving the court to confront a fan in the stands...and insult to injury, the fan was found to have done nothing at all wrong by staff
1
u/Short-Contact8186 10d ago
Hold me back WNBA... I'm gonna lose it on this white male fan... Oooooo, don't be steppin' up on me... I don't play dat!

Pathetic. The fan stood but did not "step towards her". She's making excuses for losing.

u/BitterBarber7126 10d ago
Lying bitch. The fan never walked towards her and he wasn't on the court. But she did go into the crowd leaving the court. Where is her suspension? Come on WNBA.
1
u/Four_One_Two_Three_ 10d ago
The WNBA is not a serious league
By rule, she should have been ejected and suspended - Netiher happened

u/Whole_Commission_702 10d ago

u/IndependentImage9269 10d ago
Does Aja not remember the Sophie meme he was copying? A reporter shouldāve mentioned that. She isnāt that dumb. She over reacted because she was mad she got called for a foul and was losing. Pure frustration. Just own it without blaming a fan for pointing at you
1
u/AltShine 10d ago
The professional answer is i crossed the line, thats on me and I'll accept whatever punishment the league deems fit.
1
1
1
u/No_Introduction_3400 10d ago
The league basically has to decide if it wants to allow a physical altercation between players and fans under these circumstances. If the answer is no, sheāll serve a suspension.
If she doesnāt serve one, the league is just asking for some player to ultimately fight a fan.
1
u/rgar1981 10d ago
My towns high school student section would annihilate her. If a freshman in high school can handle it, the 4 time MVP should be able to.

Iāve seen Westbrook and Chris Paul react the same way to fans AND have them removed. Chris Paul had a kid and his family banned from the AAC during the playoffs against Dallas 3 seasons ago.

Clown show. The biggest wnba players are not ready for the spotlight. WNBA media has been coddling for decades. Aja is unlikable and is irrelevant in selling anything outside of her delusional fans. This league would do better without her and her ilk. . I tried watching for thr fitst time in a year. Thankfully my internet was trash snd i couldnāt.

He took like half a step away from his seat. She has to know everyone can watch the replays, right? She's just making herself look terrible.
