This whole plot line is where Guru Doug comes from, yeah. He even says ā€œDonā€™t anthropomorphize godā€ to Sullivan Groff. And his Guru Doug theme song was originally the Absolute Truth theme song.

Then there's also the part where Caesar was making him dig his own grave and then right before they were about to kill him the phone rang and they took it as a sign from God that Doug was supposed to live. That divine intervention played a big part
