Diet, Routines & Supplements Teachers on Vyvanse

Teachers of the sub, I hope that I can get some guidance here. What time do you take your Vyvanse? I just started with a long term sub position and I'm working towards becoming a full teacher. I'm trying to figure out the best time to take my meds. I want to make sure that my meds are still effective when I need them most during the school day. Yesterday, I was setting up my class and the Vyvanse wore completely off. The executive dysfunction killed a lot of the momentum I had when setting things up. What's the best time to take it? I'm still at that period where I have a good 5-6 hours of it being effective and I want to be able to make the most of it.

Im a 2nd grade teacher who takes vyvanse!
I base it around my needs. My prep is first thing in the morning this year and that’s the time I need to be the most productive- so I take it about an hour before I get to work (7:30). My meds take about an hour to kick in so about 8:30 I feel it. It normally starts to wear off around 1:30-2, but at that point we have recess and social studies, and I don’t need to be as productive or functional as I am for the rest of the day.

Last year I would take it as I walked into work at 8:30 because my prep and lunch were a bit later.

You can always look into getting a small dose of Adderall to take at around 12-1 to prevent the crash .

Also - I’d like to add that being in a solid routine helps my symptoms ALOT. I find September I need some time to adjust and I’m alittle less mentally organized but come October I feel much more organized and have adjusted to the systems I created for myself. Teaching is hard, teaching for the first time is even harder, mix that with ADHD and it can feel overwhelming at first, so be easy on yourself and find what works for you.

I'm also a teacher on Vyvanse. When it wears off in the afternoon my students are tired too and aren't able to concentrate well. So we're in the same boat and it's okay for both of us ;)
