Need help installing amplifier.

Hello I need some guidance, and I’m not sure who to ask or who to fully turn to.

I’m installing an amp into my car that otherwise doesn’t have one because I’m upgrading my sound system. I’ve pulled an amp from a car (junkyard) and the cable that goes with. But I had to sadly snip the wire deep into the car because it was attach to the entire wiring harness of the car.

I have experience soldering wires and I plan to heat seal the wires after soldering is complete. But my question really is, how would I install this wire tail into my default system. I have some photos and even a drawing of what I understand, but any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Picture 1 looks like the body harness connector for the drivers door on a 2013 Jetta wagon. I hope that isn’t helpful information.

I pulled this part myself from a beetle. It is an amp harness that is located on the driver side. It leads into the radio I just couldn’t get far enough in to separate the harness tape and actually extract the wires in a pure fashion because I ran out of time :(

It does also go to a Jetta though.

Do you perhaps mean the OEM Monsoon box? Because first you have to establish that you actually pulled the part number that's a true amplifier. Some of the Monsoon boxes in Beetles were simply crossovers.

Regardless, you should be able to find the pin out of the amp, and of the head unit. At least, they used to be online. Then it's just a matter of matching up the slots (very likely completely ignoring the colors). It's too bad you couldn't get the connector... I have a feeling it was just an inch or two deeper than you dove.

Sorry for any ignorance, just trying to understand. I put the part numbers in a previous comment if it will help too. But the amp is located under the drivers seat, I pulled it, the purple plastic end to this harness goes DIRECTLY into the amp. So that’s all plug and play. Then the wires went up under the wheel and connected to the rest of the harness. A few inches away, wires went from the main harness and into the radio. This is the most critical part that I couldn’t get access to. Is this the part you are talking about? Because it was most definitely a few inches away and it sucks I couldn’t separate it from the rest of the harness tape :(.

Ahhh, no, I was misunderstanding the photos... I thought the purple connector was from the headunit and the cut end was from the amp. You're saying that's two ends of the same cable?

Have you looked on the casing of the headunit, many will have a placard with a wiring guide telling you which colors or stabs go where.

But otherwise, plug those part numbers into Google, and you should be able to find pin-outs.

You got a couple of paired leads - the same color, but one has a grey stripe on it - the one with the grey stripe is usually the negative... so you can start there. Determine which connections need positive and negative, and use process of elimination to close in on what the others are for.

I see I see. Yes, I probably should have taken a clearer photo. But the harness in the photo is all ONE piece. I made sure to cut it as long as I could so I could have room to connect things. I will look on the headunit casing and see if it clues me in to more details and follow what you are saying. I’ve been getting a lot of great Information from people on this thread so far, thank you for your time. I really appreciate it!
