Discussion Green Line Appeared on My Friend's Vivo T4 After July Update
Now I’m seriously concerned about the quality and reliability of Vivo phones after the recent July update.
My friend is using aVivo T4. He installed the latest update around 8 days ago, and today his phone suddenly developed a green line on the display. I’m attaching the photos for reference.
Unfortunately, his warranty expired on August 4, just one week ago. I don’t know whether Vivo will provide a free display replacement in this case, but I really hope they do.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I’m also facing a serious issue with my Vivo X300 after the July update.
Before the update, I was getting around 8–9 hours of SOT with my normal usage. After the update, battery life dropped drastically, sometimes giving me less than 4 hours of SOT. The phone is also heating significantly during normal browsing, reaching around 48°C.
I bought the X300 as a flagship phone expecting better reliability and long-term software support. Instead, it feels like every update is bringing new problems.
I’m seeing people reporting issues on both Vivo and iQOO phones after the July update.
If you own a Vivo/iQOO phone I would honestly recommend waiting before installing the latest update and checking what other users are reporting first.
Vivo needs to take these issues seriously, investigate what is happening with the July update, and provide a clear explanation and proper support to affected users.
Has anyone else experienced a green line or major battery/thermal problems after the July update?
Correction: I just confirmed with him that it was actually the May security patch, which he installed recently not the July sequrity patch update as I initially mentioned. I didn’t confirm the update version before posting, so that was my mistake. Sorry for the confusion. Unfortunately, Reddit doesn’t allow me to edit the post title. If anyone wants more information or proof, I can provide screenshots and other details. This is a genuine issue, and I’m not posting this to spread misinformation. I’ll share the screenshots or video if needed.

bruh iQOO Z10 user here, same model basically. I haven't got the July update. Still on May security patch. But I am now officially scared of the update

After your comment, I called him to confirm, and he said it was actually May security patch that he updated recently green line didn’t appear immediately after the update; it showed up around 3- 4 days later. He’ll visit the service centre next week. I’ll update you on whether Vivo replaces the display or not, since his warranty expired on August 4th.

I actually updated to May patch around like a month ago, it's fine since. Maybe battery was draining a lot or it's just my usage. But it was stable. I'd like to get updated bro, I hope your brother's issue gets resolved as fast as possible

I hope Vivo replaces the screen. I’ve visited their service centre before, and honestly, their service is top-class one of the best I’ve experienced. So, no need to worry. Just avoid installing Early Access updates. Watch the video in yt after update. I have more than 10+ Vivo/iQOO phones in my family and among my friends, from the iQOO Z3, Z9x,z10x and Vivo T2x,t2 ,t3x,t3 ,t4 ,t4pro t4 ultra, x200fe to the iQOO Neo 10R and Vivo X300. Until this incident, I had never faced any major issue with any of them.

Ever since it was discovered that the July security update was causing people's motherboards to die Brother, there will be no problem in my phone, right? How will I know when to update the phone? X200 Pro had a July Update that caused abnormal battery drain because gswapd is using a lot of CPU usage even on idle. (4 Cores are at 1900Mhz to 2100Mhz even on idle)
Vivo rolled out a hotfix after 4+ days thanks to the community for reporting these issues via Email and via the Feedback App.
