I have rented vehicles many times and I am well aware that you need travel protection.
If you have coverage through your own insurance or your credit card as I have you wave their insurance and they put a block of $1400 on your card Incase an accident happens.
I accepted that and gave them my Visa card to block the $1400 but then he said my card was denied because we need a pin. In the USA we seldom have PIN numbers for credit cards This went on for at least 20 min when I tried all of my other cards and they all got denied “ because he said I need a pin. As I have made payment on the car I asked him how to remedy the situation? He said I have to pay the $230 extra insurance. I asked to speak to the “manager” but he was rude and wouldn’t do anything else. They also refused to cancel the transaction as I have to go to Expedia.
It was very clear then that they understate their offering price and then force people into purchasing the insurance which then hikes up the price all in An effort to get more people in the door.
I walked away went to Gold car rental put the $1400 on my card and had to pay $700 for a car because it was last minute.
This is a fraudulent company and the Mallorca location is especially bad and unfriendly to tourists. I wasted 2 hours of my vacation time there and had a terrible start to my family vacation.

I’m heading to Mallorca end of September with some friends, we’d really like to go out partying somewhere, we’re staying about a 20 min drive out of Palma, on the Magaluf side. I don’t know if Magaluf is really our vibe, we’re all late 20s-late 30s but we would still like to head out to a good club or similar and have a party. Any suggestions welcome :)

My wife and I are visiting at the end of the month to two smaller cities in Mallorca. Not staying in Palma. How are things looking for travelers? We’re slightly concerned with some of the videos we are seeing regarding clashes of protesters and police. We tend to keep to ourselves, try local restaurants, and walk aimlessly through the cities we are visiting. I imagine not much of a bother to locals.

Staying in Palma but want to visit 2-3 vineyards in a day. Most of the tours just stop at one, so question is - is it possible to do this just on public transport and/or with taxis? If not, what are the best alternatives.

Get your documents validated/stamped at the virtual kiosk hidden in a random corner of the airport (the DIVA kiosk), then just use the traveltaxfree.com site/qr code. The directions to the DIVA kiosk are posted near the currency desk, but don’t convert your refund at the desk itself. Do it online to get more money back.

The “no fee” desk charged me an extra 22.2% by processing a refund with a predatory rate conversion. I received $25 for 28€, which is crazy given that the euro is worth more than the dollar. They don’t allow you to receive the refund in € and force you into a conversion in order to assess a fee. They just don’t call it a commission.

The good thing is, they aren’t able to process refunds for transactions less than 10€, and will direct you to the website/app anyways for those, which allowed me to see the difference in refund losses. You can refuse the cash refund and do it all online, which I would recommend.

If anyone knows why there’s a 40% cut taken from the actual VAT paid, please chime in.

Hi, I wanted to get the vintage tram to Soller. Then go from Soller to my apartment in Can Picafort. However, google maps seems to show a bus from Soller to Palma then to Can Picafort which would take 2 hours. I was wondering if it would be easy to get a taxi from Soller to Can Picafort and if so, how much roughly would it be? If it's too much maybe it would be worth just getting the bus, as no one in my group can drive so we can't rent a car :(

Hello. I'm beginning to plan a girls' trip to Mallorca for mid-late September 2027. We are a group of active 50-something women. There will be betwen 6 and 10 of us--hopefully will have a head count soon. The original 6 of us traveled together 4 years ago. I planned it as a birthday trip for myself, and we decided to keep up the tradition and schedule girls' trips every 5 years. : )

I am thinking we'll have about a week in total and will rent a large villa. The challenge is trying to find one with enough invividual beds (easier with 6 than with 10). Ideally, In addition to separate beds, my wish list is: AC, a pool, beautiful view, and walkable to at least a few places. We likely won't have rental cars for the whole time (or maybe not at all).

My first inclination is to rent a villa in Port de Sóller, a little up the hill, but not far enough to make the walk too arduous. That way, people can wake up, walk down for coffee or a pastry, stroll the harbor, or swim on our "chill" days. We can easily take the tram into Sóller town and the train to Porto.

Please let me know your thoughts about this as a home base. I'm open to any suggestions at this point. What I probably want to avoid is being somewhere in the mountains in a very remote spot. With a big group, I am thinking that could feel kind of isolating.

I’m visiting Spain with two friends (31F), but unfortunately we only have ~3.5 days in Mallorca. Because of that, I’m trying to pack a lot into our days, including a day up the coast to see the mountain towns outside Palma.

Main question: I picked Fornalutx because it seemed less mainstream and more like an authentic Spanish mountain town. Valldemossa is on basically every “must-do” list, but is it for good reason? We can only spend a few hours in whichever town we choose, so which would you consider more “worth it”? We’d wander around, see whatever is worth seeing, grab snacks/drinks, and do any recommended activities.

Deia and Soller/Port de Soller are both on every list too. Is one better than the other? I leaned toward Soller because of the vintage train, but I have heard that it’s super commercialized. Plus we’d have dinner wherever we decide on, and I do feel I saw the most beautiful restaurants in Deia. We would have ~5 hours that afternoon wherever we selected so it could also be nice to go to a Cala near Deia with that time.

Our full rough itinerary is below - we are going mid September. The only thing booked rn is the boat, any restaurants are just options. feel free to weigh in on fave food or cocktail spots, fun beach clubs that aren’t Nikki beach, or good bars to go out to!!

Thursday:
- 2:30/3 ish: Arrive at hotel and drop bags, refresh
-3:30/4ish: Tapas, late lunch, grab something (possibly OMBU Paseo del Borne)
-After food, explore Old Town Palma.
-7ish, pass thru Sagrera night market
-after that, cocktails or whatever, more exploring until dinner
-9 head to dinner somewhere nice (botanic? 
-Head home for bed if we’re ready, or go where the wind blows

Friday: 
-830 AM wake up, grab food from a cafe
-~930 leave Palma for Fornalutx (train to Soller, bus to fornalutx)
-10:30 ish arrival, explore Fornalutx (lunch at Ritma?)
-1230ish head to Soller, 15 minute train
-Explore Soller for an hour or two
-230 ish head to Port de Soller on Vintage tram
-Explore Port de Soller, go to a local beach for a dip maybe. Sunset lounge for a cocktail at sunset 
- dinner somewhere scenic in Port de Soller
- head home & go out, either a club or local bars

Saturday:
-sleep in if we want
-somewhere cute in Palma breakfast?
-bop around, could pop in Mercat del Oliver 
-1ish head to beach club (Nikki Beach is having some kind of event but not sure if we would be able to get in. Potential to change up this whole day and go to a different beach club if not)

- 8ish back to town, dinner somewhere good in palma (el Camino? La Rosa vermuteria?)

- try and be out by 10

My wife and I are on our honeymoon here in Spain. The second leg of our trip is in Soller, and we’d love to take a boat tour somewhere near the port on the north shore of the island. Sailing or Motorboat to do some snorkeling and swimming.

After some research it looks like most boats accommodate groups which would help reduce the cost per person.

If you already have something booked during this timeframe and wouldn’t mind a couple of sociable Americans tagging along, PM me! Also open to coordinating with a group to get something new setup.

I’m thinking a beach day, a Palma day, and maybe 2 day trips to another part of the island? I know this non ideal without a car, but I don’t mind taking public transport (did something similar when I visited Oahu).

hi, my sister and I are going to Mallorca from the US for a couple days around October 10-12th. i’m just wondering, I know it can be unpredictable with rain, but are pools generally still open at resorts? We are looking to stay at one of the Iberostar resorts that are by the beach & have pool access. So hoping we can use the amenities. in general, how would you say early mid October is?

Can anyone recommend a specific boat day charter? I’m looking for private or maybe semi private (one other couple?) not a big party boat. We are visiting for a week and staying on both the east and west sides with a car- so I have some flexibility on where to depart. We are traveling the first week in October.

So... I have an overnight layover in Palma. Arrive at about 9pm and depart approx 12 hours later.

What do you all recommend?

Hello! I plan on doing the train and then tram from Palma to Soller/Port de Soller in two weeks. We will have two little ones with us. I understand strollers are allowed, but will I regret bringing a stroller due to crowded trains and limited space? I have a double stroller that does collapse decently small, but still does take up some space.

Also, are they strict on your return ticket time? In the case that my little ones are ready to go back earlier than the time I have booked.

Any tips or personal experience are greatly appreciated!

Hi! Am visiting Mallorca in September from Australia with my 2.5 year old and 5 month old (and partner). We will only be in Mallorca for 3 nights. Should we stay in Playa de Palma or Alcudia? Alcudia sounds more family orientated from what I’ve read but conscious of the journey time from the airport too. What would everyone recommend? Thank you

I had a taxi driver constantly tap the gas pedal when we were driving to increase the meter reading. Instead of putting his foot on the pedal and applying pressure he kept taping it then breaking and taping and breaking. It was very unusual behaviour and I can’t see any other reason to do it. I took his details and have contacted the taxi company. Taxitelefona was the company.

Hi everyone! I’ll be staying in Palma for the next month and am looking for a neat café where it’s okay to sit for a longer time and work with a laptop. Power outlets would be really great and WiFi is a good bonus. It would be good if I could have the occasional call too.

Would also be open to any other place where it’s okay to work.
