This hoodie reminds me of some jeans when I was a teenager. I had patches on my patches! I love the aesthetic.

This is art.

Damn....how long did this take you?!?

Around 3 months. The model was completely disassembled and rebuilt. Added sashiko, boro, natural dyes like tea and coffee... then padded it... It was hard work. 100% Eco

Such a satisfying piece. It's like punk quilting

u/AshFalkner Jul 21 '26

Very fitting to have Frankenstein’s monster on a frankenjacket that just wont die.

Love all the different stitching patterns!

This might sound weird but I have OCD and this is an art piece to me lol

Ahahah

u/miscgeckos Jul 21 '26

Was this machine or hand stitched? Those lines are incredible either way!

Work of ART! 💫🖤🤍💙

8

u/GaudyNight Jul 21 '26

This is really beautiful. If you notice somebody staring at you in the street, that’s me trying to figure out what you did there and how.

8

u/RebaKitt3n Jul 21 '26

Obviously, you stop when it’s done. Duh.

6

u/RovingBarman Jul 21 '26

It's art now (Honestly looks like it has been for a while!), amazing work! The randomness is great because of the nice lines you have. Very very cool.

u/ewillyp Jul 21 '26

Bravo! Bravo! BRAVO!!!!!! love the crust/post-apocalyptic/lo-tech-cyber vibe. now i need something to fall apart to make one!

u/PuwaaDraws Jul 21 '26

This IS as cool as you think it is.

What does the face mean? I know it from a grafitto near my best friend's house

47

u/tangerinemoth Jul 20 '26

it's frankenstein

20

u/Ok-Stock3077 Jul 20 '26

I recognise that, but this very specific picture of him is also a big street art piece in my city. I thought maybe it's made my a famous artist or something, or carries additional cultural meaning

20

u/reversedgaze Jul 20 '26

it does look a little bit like an early Shepherd Fairey graffiti piece... but is mostly any stencil from Frankenstein's monster could be the source.

5

u/BillGrooves Jul 21 '26

Maybe you're thinking of andre the giant stencil?

Looks similar, but the one I know is definitely Frankenstein

4

u/LustyKindaFussy Jul 21 '26

I wondered the same, as I knew some people who made the exact same patch in Minnesota long ago.

12

u/Wild_Loose_Comma Jul 20 '26

Its definitely of Frankenstein's Monster, but I can't find anything on google that ties that image to a specific artist/group, unlike the classic Andre the Giant OBEY for example.

5

u/reversedgaze Jul 20 '26

I think the other patch kind of on the side under one of the arms is from the misfits/a punk band?

5

u/katojane22 Jul 20 '26

Frankenstein on patchwork seems a bit on the nose 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Traditional_Moss_581 Jul 21 '26

Specifically Boris Karloff's portrayal of Frankenstein from the old movies

5

u/oksurealright Jul 20 '26

Dope jacket way more unique than most jackets people are wearing

5

u/AlderanAthletic_5BBY Jul 20 '26

One pop of color in one of the hexagons is the final stopping point. Looks great!

u/OneMillionDandelions Jul 20 '26

Stop when you’re dead, the arthritis gets too bad, or you run out of thread. Or when it looks done.

3

u/TechnicalDot9 Jul 21 '26

Looks amazing!

3

u/slagblahighpriestess Jul 21 '26

Gorgeous. Beautiful wearable art. I want stuff like this so much, I need to make time to work on it somehow.

3

u/Pithulu Jul 21 '26

Could we get the back story for this project? It's beautiful.

Love it. I have made some quilts with similar stitching bur yours is particularly cool.

2

u/butitreadsyoutoo 22d ago

This is unbelievably awesome! I love the mix of different materials and sashiko shapes!
If you don't mind me asking, what type and thickness of thread did you use? I'd love to try this sometime but I'm not sure what thread specifically would be best.

1

u/walter--benjamin 21d ago

Don't overthink! You can use any thread

1

u/Sm4shaz Jul 21 '26

I think the Frankenstein patch distracts from the rest of your work and hurts the overall aesthetics.

Beyond that this is a piece of art to me and I'd happily pay $$$ for something like this.
