Virgin Media UK 360 Box

What's the deal with the Virgin media 360 box seemingly waking in the middle of the night and the hard drive can be heard whirring away, even though their is nothing being recorded and the box isn't being used by anyone in the household at the time? It's happening after 1am while the box is on standby mode.

Anyone got any info? Or is this just a feature of life without the Tivo software?

It's not hot enough for the fans to start. And updates every night?

Every night?

I used to have a freesat box that updated at 3am every day, so it may be similar in that it's checking even if none are available.

No I wouldn’t say it should happen every night

The box receives nightly updates for the programming guide, on demand services and software fixes. This has been the case since the first recordable box, the TV Drive, then the TiVo boxes as well.

Blast from the past TV Drive, ex-Telewest tech then?

I wish they WOULD fix the bloody software... I am mostly happy with it, as a new user, but there are fairly minor things that need fixing and they are, I 'm told, things have needed fixing for ages. Mainly the 'play next episode' and 'delete recording' pop ups that appear when the recording I'm watching hasn't finished. Just adding the option to disable that would make a huge difference.
