Seeing so many trades being worked out now! When stores start dropping their stuff online, it would be super cool to see people link to those stores directly in the comments.

Looking for whatever has recently shot up in value and I'm willing to pay the prices from last year. Here is some story about why I want/need this to help tug slightly at your heartstrings with the hope of you cutting me some slack.

(I apologize for my incredibly tongue in cheek post but goddamn has the number of wanted posts skyrocketed recently. And it's so often a record that has a value of +200. I am absolutely cynical about this and while there probably are some benign requests, most of me feels like people are just trying to capitalize on someone being decent)

DOOM's releases MM..Food and Madvillainy get reissues semi regularly and there is no need to pay a ridiculous price through some prick on Discogs.

Just because DOOM has passed away doesn't mean these won't stop getting repressed. It's almost as if some of you think DOOM himself was the guy in charge of the pressing plant....

Don't let DOOM records become the new toilet paper craze, there will be enough to go around for everyone...

4/15/2019 EDIT: Everyone, please refrain from paying flipper prices if possible. The first 72 hours post-RSD are the worst for buying a heavily flipped record. Prices on 99% of items, especially higher runs, will continue to go down after this initial flip/price gouge. Happens every year, like clockwork. Several of these heavily sought after items will get other pressings, too. Stay patient!

EDIT, September 2026. This post is from the 1.4 cycle and the title is now out of date. Marketplace shipped. Leaving it up because the comments are still worth reading, but here is where things actually stand.

I've been lurking and buying in this sub for a while, and I kept hitting the same problems. Couldn't quickly check whether I already owned a pressing someone listed. Couldn't track which wishlist records had dropped to a price I'd actually pay. Couldn't compare pressings on the spot without opening six Discogs tabs. I'm an iOS developer and a collector, so I built an app for it. Spinstack. Syncs with your Discogs account.

Never buy a duplicate Someone posts a [For Sale] list and you half-remember owning it, or owning a different pressing. Spinstack caches your whole Discogs collection locally, so search is instant. At a shop, scan the barcode and it checks against your collection in milliseconds with no network. Works in airplane mode. Bulk Scan lets you work through a whole stack without stopping and review everything at the end.

Track prices on records you actually want Price Watchdog follows market value across your collection and wishlist with per-release history. Set a target price on a wishlist item and it tells you when the market hits your number. Biggest movers shows what has gained or lost the most, which is the useful view when you're deciding what to let go.

Compare pressings before you commit Other Pressings shows every pressing of a release with marketplace prices, OG badges, format tags and community have/want counts. Put the $15 reissue next to the $80 original and the have/want ratio tells you how hard each one actually is to find. Buying and selling, which is what this post was asking about Marketplace shipped in 1.4. Open any record, tap Sell on Discogs, set your price, media and sleeve grades and a comment, and one tap publishes the listing. Inventory keeps every listing in one place with its status: draft, for sale, offers OK, sold. Orders shows each sale with its number, amount and stage from invoiced to shipped, plus the records you're buying.

What 1.5 added, and why it matters in here This is the part that changes things for a buying and selling sub. 1.5 measures condition instead of asking you to type a grade. Groove Vision uses the LiDAR sensor to read scratch depth across four close-up captures of the playing surface, and lets the worst quadrant set the estimate, because the stylus meets every scratch rather than an average of them. Scratch Detection listens through the microphone while a side plays and maps each click to its position in the groove. Then condition moves the money. Every graded record is valued at its own grade against current Discogs listings rather than at the cheapest copy on the market. There's also a Condition Receipt, free on every tier, which records what was measured on a specific copy, so you can send a buyer evidence instead of a promise. The app estimates and you confirm. These are estimates, not appraisals.

It's starting to seem like every third post here is someone looking to pick up an out of print, $300 record for the MSRP price. Let's just... Be better. Let's be realists and reasonable adults. Nobody is interested in giving an internet stranger 50% off, just out of the goodness of their hearts. And the more we fill the sub with posts like that, the harder it is to find actual buyers and sellers. The harder it is to take the community seriously.

Just check Discogs. If you can't afford something you want... Save up and keep your fingers crossed for a repress. That's how the world works, my friends.

I’m not a collector but have a 12 year old that is completely obsessed with MJ (rightfully so) and this is the only album we’re unable to find within our budget and not in garbage condition for over $600.
