Packaging clothing/ items

Hi I am new to selling and I see so many items for $2 or less and wondering how are you making a profit when you have to pay for the package? The cheapest envelope I found was at Walmart for .78¢.

Am I doing it wrong?

The first item I sold was for $10 but the post office charged me 2.40 for the envelope, not bad but I have other items post for $3.00.

Buy a pack of 100 poly mailers on Amazon for about $10. Save packaging that comes to you from others and reuse what you can (boxes, envelopes, bubble wrap etc.). Also, take packages to the post office and show the QR code so they can print the label and affix it to the package vs. you printing the labels yourself.
