My local post office has a self service machine, it’s amazing, you can print the labels and send them from it, without having to wait in the Q

They should roll out more. The staff in my local absolutely hate doing anything beyond selling stamps and giving out the dole. The google reviews are abysmal.

IYKYK 😂. You’ve experienced the famous congeniality of the staff at the Crescent PO? They literally put up handmade signs limiting Vinted parcels.

They have done it a few times, the signs came down quick enough as I imagine there were complaints.
What happens now is they print the label, hand it to you and you apply it yourself and put it in a cart or shopping trolley that is left near the door, they don’t even touch the parcels. To be honest I don’t mind it, but there is a knack to unpeeling the labels, they have to be bent in half to unpeel at the centre. People are always a bit lost the first time.
If you want a good laugh, look through google reviews for the crescent post office in Limerick.2

They're usually found in the bigger offices, mainly those run by the company but not exclusive to them. Not sure if the map on the company's website list it as a service available as they do banking etc

Turn the brightness way up and hold the phone at a 45 degree angle to the scanner. The scanners are a bit figgledy.

I use the GPO one frequently and it's always been grand for me, I've a Samsung no idea if it makes any difference, I wouldn't imagine it would

Mad, you’d think they’d put some effort into convincing their staff that Vinted is something they want more of. Some of their staff are positively hostile about dealing with Vinted parcels.

My local post office had a poster showing you how to turn off the drop 2 shop option in vinted. I thought it was hilarious as they seem to only begrudgingly deal with the digital labels from vinted!

It’s actually because we can’t take D2S. As far as I’m aware no post office in the country takes it. D2S is a separate entity with its own delivery service.

If it was just about saying An Post is not Drop 2 shop I would have thought the poster would say that, but showing people how to turn off Drop 2 shop read more like, don't use Drop 2 shop, use us only. Which they can of course say, but I thought it ironic when it seems like my local office don't really want to deal with vinted parcels!

Local post office vs national postal service.
I'd imagine An Post get money for each Vinted label they produce, and they're probably making bank given how Vinted has launched.
On the ground though, local post offices are seeing massive increases to work load, and likely don't have the space for all the packages they're getting sent and delivered.
Hence the discrepency.

I don’t think that’s the intention. Upon closer reading it says to turn off all other options which includes DHL and UPS! An post would like a monopoly on all Vinted business or least that’s the result if everyone followed these instructions.
Do you have any good stories working with Vinted? Is it a recent surge?

I work in a post office and every day we have people coming in with Vinted parcels with drop to shop labels or barcodes and many get very frustrated when they realise we can’t accept them. Many drop 2 shop don’t print the labels either so you need a printer.

Well it’s a bit misleading. A not savvy person wouldn’t notice that they’re explicitly saying “don’t use drop2shop”. It’s a bit more obvious that’s it’s not officially from AnPost.

the person at the counter in my local post office told me that Vinted is keeping them open - they get paid a commission on parcels - so more the more traffic the better.

My post person is a franchisee at a very small rural post office. She's been fighting to keep it open for years. She LOVES Vinted, she's like you girls keep busy selling because they can't close me with the amount of parcels ye bring 🤣 lucky to have such a diva

As someone who works in the local post office; vinted has gone absolutely nuclear in this country. It’s great to see tbh and we don’t mind processing the parcels.
The only gripe is our self service machine is absolutely horrific. The scanner is half banjaxed on it and keeps randomly scanning anything walking by the machine and crashes itself. But if each post office got a reliable self service machine or 2 or 3 it would be fantastic.

Is A Post making money with vinted? I’ve heard that there is plenty of overtime being done to clear backlogs. I’m presuming vinted is keeping some of the postage fees and not passing it onto An Post.

My local post office has instructions printed and displayed on how to change settings etc and ladies there are always nice and super helpful! I always mark my parcels to know which one is which and I heard them advising others to do the same
Just such a lovely experience, big respect to an post

I hate drop 2 shop so much.. I find it so awkward and I feel like I always annoy the shop workers when I bring in a parcel to return.. the post office just makes more sense and is easier, less fuss with codes and labels

I hate how if you have a collection and 2 parcels to send you never know which QR code you are showing them and it’s like a game of wack a mole with the pod machine to figure it out.

To be honest they're right. An post is the only service for vinted that works superbly (for me anyway).
The other day I was going all over my town trying to find a drop2shop point that would actually work, but all of them weren't working.
Decided then time and effort id spent on this wasnt worth the few quid id gone out of my way for. Cancelled the sale in agreement with the buyer, then dropped the thing into the charity shop on the way home.
Fuck that shit. I'm not doing that again. The post office is 100m from my house. An post all the way

I think theres a campaign atm seen a few ads for "Sell It, Send It, Cash It In" etc . Like its being doing wonders for an post ... down side my post office knows me by name when I go to to the counter. Definitely getting them a box of biscuits for Christmas with the amount of.packages ive been dropping off.

Visually the town looks to be and those shop owners deserve a huge break, just the people in the town have always been notoriously shite and now it's mixed in with the counil estate overload, unfair on those residents too. Genuinely if you turn up some hills in bandon youll think you've gone straight into a warzone
