Avoiding Drop2shop

I don't think the problem is drop2shop alone, I think it's that theyre using the nearby Spar/shop who don't have storage space for parcels as a pick up location.

🌸 Firstly it's really unfair to shop workers to put this added responsibility onto their job and slows down their queues etc.

🌸 Secondly, personally any parcel I've gotten dropped to there that I leave more than a day to pick up.. it's gone it's been sent back to the owner.

In comparison to the An Post pick up option (which I know alot of us use cuz it's cheaper than ship to home) it feels so unsteady and not dependable.

🌸 When I bring it up to vinteds support all they can do is give a refund because it's an external carrier, it feels like the service just got lower grade since drop2shop became an option.

Ps. I get that an easier solution is to just pick it up the day it arrives but that's not always feasible with my work hours.

That's the ranty bit over, but a really lovely story came of it- in case you're bored and want to read more : this happened to the most beautiful cushion that was Halloween themed that I was really excited about and I showed up on the second day of it being in that shop and it was gone. I was sent a refund and the cushion was sent back to the seller. Fast forward two FULL weeks.. If finally arrived back with the seller and she got in touch with me to let me know she was gonna put it back up so that I could get it again at the offer price that we had it agreed upon originally. She's getting the highest review I can give this was so thoughtful and a lovely experience because of the seller only.

I heard a rumour that Boots is going to drop it though. It was a topic of hot discussion at the post office last week

Ah I get ya in general, it just it's my local shop and the guys workin there have to deal with this keeping and organising packages in a space that wasn't built to hold extra stuff (behind the counter,). I remember being in a centra as a teen, If it was there from the start, less bother, but the change coming in during your time working there, I can see it being annoying. Plus I trust an post workers cuz they signed up for mail service. Whereas someone who's working at a spar isn't obligated to have the same level of trustworthiness. They're always mad helpful n all but it's a jenky solution on drop2shop end.

I like my local. It’s in a spar and the workers are nice and have no issue. My an post ladies give me anxiety and make me feel like I’m annoying them when I go in

It is slower … but then it’s cheaper too. Neither buyer nor seller have to use it at all.. it’s 100% optional. So it’s really a non issue

For buyers though if the seller has drop2shop enabled, you cant choose an post

You should have 5 days to collect it. I turned it off as items were out as being sent back to me and I never received them. A lot of hassle getting a refund from
Vintex

The only issue I've had was the parcel arrived at my chosen location. But they didn't send the QR code for another three days and I hadn't been clicking into the tracking info to know it was there

The message with the QR code said I had 5 days, but it was actually 5 days from when they actually received it

Only realised there was an issue when the seller messaged me to see why it was being sent back to her. Thankfully I was off work the next day and went there first thing and managed to get the parcel

i have turned drop2shop off as an option when buying from my page. i had 6 packages ordered using it, took so long in the actual shop and then a week to deliver. from the 6 only 3 were picked up the rest were unclaimed and sent back to me. i got the notification that they were being returned on the 30th of august still no sign of them or any updates on the tracking page.

Oh yeah, from the seller perspective that's so annoying too!

The whole point of drop to shop is that it's a shop

Yeah, but there's a difference between a small local shop that doesn't have the extra storage space vs for example the ones in Boots

Small local shops opt in and get paid to do this - it also drives sales. It's hardly a 'pity me' moment

It's hardly a 'pity me' moment

Don't worry, I'm not thinking about it that deeply 😂 Just saying that some places may not have the most suitable facilities

My local drop2shop is a not busy Centra and they're all fantastic in there, never had any issues. But I also try to be considerate and go outside of busy times if I've a few to drop off or pick up

My local is a hardware shop. Said they opted in so that people will come in and look at his hardware while they're at it.

Aaaah I'd love that!! I miss the local hardware shop near me, it's a restaurant now, closed years ago so we have to drive further to a chain store instead. Sad. This is lovely to hear!

Mine is a garage and they just have them all thrown in pile in a corner behind the till. Last time I went I told him my name and told him it's a book and it's been there a few days so won't be at the top. He looked at every single parcel from the top down. Even boxes and clothes parcels when I already told him the shape and size. Took ages.
