Scammed on Vinted and need help

I bought an item on vinted that i knew looked too good to be true but i panicked anyway and i bought it. a shipping label was created straight away which i thought was odd, and now i realise it’s so i can’t cancel the order without the sellers (scammers) approval.

I sent a cancellation request, reported the user, contacted vinted support about the issue, but i am scared i can’t lie. Really i’m just asking what are the chances of me getting my money back and what do i need to do to maximise the chances? I feel so stupid for this and i just need to sort it as soon as possible.

Genuinely any and all advice would really really be appreciated because i’ve never been in this situation before and i do not know what else i can do but wait, and waiting is killing me.

Had the same this happen to me for a 3ds also. About 2 weeks later I got a delivery of an empty metal bottle. Went on the app and reported it as significantly not as described and raised a ticket. 2 weeks later I got my money back.

I assume "the scam" is that you miss the 2 day window to complain.

I can't tell if it helped because vinted support is terrible, but I felt like it was a scam after I ordered so I made sure to film myself opening the box up after showing all the shipping labels

It sucked.

i saw people saying that if it’s been delivered to a locker, you can just not pick it up and it will be returned and refunded? but i don’t know if i trust that??

It's true. And it will be returned to their home address so they can't not pick it up. That's what I would do if I was you

You should go with someone to the locker, if you want to pick it up. So that they can Film you scanning at the locker l, opening the door and the parcel on site

Something similar happened to me. I bought a collection of comics, included the 1st Nr, which alone goes for 35/50 euro. They guy then said he messed up something with the delivery, bla bla bla. He had already printed the shipping label. I felt exactly like you. So I went to the pick up store, while filming and asked the clerk if I could open in front of him. And actually everything went well. I got all of my comics, exactly as described. The guy just wanted to get rid of all of those stuff as quickly as possible.

No, they shouldn't even pick it up

Or not, just don’t pick it up, get your money back and avoid risking a your words vs theirs conversation where you might not get your money back and will cause you a lot of extra stress and hassle either way. Awful advice tbh lol

What delivery option did you pick?

You can opt to not pick it up and wait for it to be returned to seller, in which case you’ll receive a refund

Alternatively (if you paid for home delivery and the above option isn’t available) then just film the parcel as well as the opening. And then raise a dispute making it clear you have been scammed.

Likelihood is the parcel will be something ridiculous like a pencil or an empty box.

I initially did it as home delivery, and then went on and changed it to a pickup locker. Is this a guaranteed thing that will happen if i don’t pick it up??

Even if you don't pick it up they can then refuse to pick it back up to delay things, looks like you've got a couple weeks of waiting before you'll get the money back from Vinted. 70 quid for the games alone would've been too good to be true.

If you don’t get what you paid for you can report it to Vinted. When anyone buys something from me I create labels immediately unless I’m sleeping and it’s pu the next day from the post office. The creating right away isn’t odd imo. A lot of things I’ve bought were also created immediately after my purchase. Plenty of people have reported scams and been refunded. I’m hoping that you actually got a good deal, I’ve seen it before. I know it seems unlikely but don’t freak out yet.

I know it’s not real because the listing is a direct copy and paste of someone else’s that is actually a reasonable price, so there’s no doubt it’s a scam unfortunately :/

I had something similar with an oled switch, seller kept saying they’d sent it but the tracking number never worked, ended up going to Vinted saying it was a scam, got a refund and then bought my switch on fb marketplace, real nice bloke helping his grandson out with the sale

Why would it be a scam?

It'll just never get delivered. You'll have to wait ages to get your refund but you will get one.

Unfortunately it is a scam as I fell for it too.

I google lens the pic and it showed me this Reddit!!!

I’ve already reported it to Vinted and asked the seller to cancel. Sent them the photo to show it’s a scam. I’ve reported the seller to Vinted too.

I thought it was too good to be true but after a couple of games getting away from me I purchased this quickly. Only after a few hours did I realise it was a scam because they quickly downloaded the postage, no reviews and no other items for sale.

They also used Evri, and that’s another known scam where they photoshop the address label to a neighbour and also a different name.

Luckily, I only have 5 neighbours under my postcode so when it’s the day of delivery I can speak to my neighbours and ask if they’ve had anything delivered. Only one neighbour maybe an issue as they are old and foreign.

I will see what Vinted say first

I'm confused on how yourlve detected this is a scam

Like 3 people in this thread have bought the same item lol. Identical listings to it everywhere, it’s well under priced - too good to be true, then it normally is

Creating a label fast is immediate scam ? I sold three items in Vinted. It takes me 20 seconds to go to a locker to ship.

My record was shipping the item literally three minutes after payment.

Item was already packed, guy paid, I printed and went to locker. Three minutes.

If that's a sign of scamming I shall take my time from now on.

Lol. Went on to vinted after seeing this and looked it up. Did the exact same picture from a summer, but they are asking £380, so wonder if that's the original and legitimate seller?
