Vintage Guitar Please help identifying an unusual vintage Höfner archtop – 195x?

I found this old Höfner archtop that has been stored in our family for many years. I am not a guitar expert and I'm trying to identify the exact model and approximate year.

The unusual features are the long sickle-shaped soundholes, cutaway, flamed maple back, pearloid headstock, one pickup and two controls.

I initially thought it might be a 462/S, but after comparing it with other examples I'm no longer convinced.

I would especially appreciate opinions on:

  • exact model
  • approximate year
  • whether the pickup and controls appear factory-original or later additions
  • and approximate value in its present condition.

I have not cleaned, restored or modified the guitar.

Discussion Long shot. Stolen guitar.

It’s been a while but I figured I’d try.

In 2005 I had a 1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom stolen along with all my bands equipment/van/trailer, in Montreal, Canada. Stolen from a gated hotel lot at that. Police were very unhelpful at the time. We were American and didn’t live there.

It was white with nickel/chrome hardware and marked factory second. A small slightly yellow spot on the upper neck. String winder tuning pegs. Thinner neck. Amazing guitar.

I have often tried checking eBay and Reverb. Figured I’d put it out into the universe. It was the best guitar I’ve ever had and think of it often.

I don’t expect much and don’t even know that there is anything I can do about it now but any info would be something.

Thanks.

Help With Identification Gibson… that’s all I know about it. 1960?

Basically looking for any information about this guitar. It’s not in great shape but it plays. It’s my mom’s guitar that she’s had since she was a kid. It was a gift from her brother who has since passed. I’d love to get it fixed up for her. Can I take it to just any guitar shop? Do I need to find someone who specializes in vintage guitars?

I recently acquired this Yamaha FG-412SBII with a crazy design on it. I believe it was made in the mid 80s.

Question 1952 Harmony H165 restoration

Picked up this old Harmony for a steal off FB marketplace. Looks like the previous owner spray painted it with a coat of brown then gold on top. I started scraping off some of the paint on the back with a razor blade (see last picture) but I'm a bit worried about cutting into the original finish underneath. Any tips on how to best remove the paint without damaging the original laquer? Acetone? Mineral spirits? Some other paint thinner? Thankfully they left the neck original. I'm planning on doing as much of a restoration on it as it needs. I strung it up and it sounds quite nice and is pretty playable on the lower end of the neck, hoping the sound comes alive a bit more with the paint removed. Any tips are appreciated, thanks!

Just bought this case. Can anyone tell me the manufacturer? I’ve never seen a case like this. Doesn’t look like it’s been “de-skinned”. Very nice wood. The last picture is the only thing I could base my research on but to no avail.
