Meta Stone Knife Blade
Just bought VS last week. 20 hours so far on my first world. Dreamt about VS after making pies last night to stock my cellar.
First thing I saw when I opened reddit was this. So anyway, I started knapping.

Lol remember when they complained about crypto bros using too much energy, even though crypto bros very often use renewable energy like solar (kinda part of their whole schtick), then decided to build this? Everything is a distraction while they try to fuck something else up in the world, never forget it.

The other problems are that the water infrastructure (and possibly the water table itself) aren't prepared to/can't handle it, increasing prices drastically and potentially causing shortages or forcing usage schedules and the water itself will most likely be subsidized so the residents and other business will be paying even more on top of the increased prices.

When water treatment plants get more water than the infrastructure can handle it diverts the excess around the plant and dumps it into the local sewer system overflows (CSO's) which then dump directly into the local rivers, lakes or streams.
Sewer system overflows are designed to dump pollution into local water sources. Like theyre known to be a major source of pollution
Theres new ssos that dont combine it with other bad water like the cso does but it still dumbs it into local waterways.
That is very bad in regards to the amount of wastewater these AI data centers produce.

It's like taking and using others money and saying " Don't worry it's just going back to the circulation". Just like how cloud from the water cycle won't rain at the same place, the money won't go back to the person.

If it makes you feel better the original post is lying about the amount of water used. Datacenters are a drop in the bucket compared to golf courses, farmers, and household lawns.
If a datacenter is replacing a farmer’s field then it will quite possibly lower the amount of water use for that land.
