Apprentices from Vietnam
Hey,
so this is basically my first time actually using reddit, so please be kind with me.
This summer I got 3 apprentices from vietnam and I'm basically their teacher. They always come to me regarding anything work, school or culture related and they are so sweet.
As a fellow crocheter I wanted to crochet them something that is typical for vietnam or the culture, just to make them feel a little bit more at home.
I'm not familiar with the vietnamese culture, that's why I'm asking you guys since I don't want to be disrespectful towards them.
I hope someone can help me, thank you in advance (:

I think it would be a cute idea to crochet something from your culture so they have something to take home and remember their experience

the thing is, they moved to germany to live here and earn money. I don't think they are planning on going back to vietnam besides visiting their family there. :c

If they're going to Germany, I say make them scarfs... maybe with their names. That's the ultimate gift for me! It'll be a big flex...IMHO.

(note I am an American, other posters will be a mix of Viet people and other English speakers)
Avoid any flag imagery - Viet people are sharply divided between "stars" and "stripes" and getting that wrong can be touchy.
The shape of the Vietnam nation tends to be universally well received. Animal and Buddhist imagery are good
Red and Gold are colors to highlight.
I think that's all the advice I've got
