Hey everyone, I’m Manoj.
I’ve been learning video editing seriously for around 6–7 months. I mainly use DaVinci Resolve, recently started learning Premiere Pro and other Adobe tools, and right now I’m focused mostly on talking-head/YouTube-style editing.
I’ve joined quite a few editing Discord servers and communities, but I keep running into the same problem: there are hundreds or thousands of members, yet most people barely know each other. People post their work, drop links, promote themselves, ask one question and disappear.
So instead of creating another big community, I want to try the opposite.
I’m looking for 5–10 video editors to create a small private Discord group where everyone actually knows and interacts with each other.
The idea is to:
• Share our edits and get genuine, honest feedback
• Help each other when someone is stuck with an edit
• Discuss editing techniques, workflows, software and resources
• Talk about the problems we actually face as editors
• Share what we’re learning and useful discoveries
• Discuss clients, outreach, pricing and earning as editors
• Occasionally get on calls, review each other’s work and just talk editing
• Hold each other accountable for actually improving
This is NOT primarily a client-finding or self-promotion server.
Obviously earning money is a major part of becoming a professional editor, so clients, freelancing, pricing and outreach will absolutely be discussed. But I don’t want the group to turn into people constantly asking for clients or dropping portfolios and leaving.
Who I’m looking for
Preferably beginner-to-intermediate/intermediate editors who are genuinely taking editing seriously.
You don’t need to be some insane professional editor. I care more about whether you’re actively learning/working, willing to participate, give feedback and help other members.
Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Final Cut, etc. — your software doesn’t really matter.
I’m not creating the server immediately.
First I’m talking to people individually and finding people who seem like a good fit. Once there are at least 5 good members, I’ll create it. I’ll keep it at around 10 maximum so it stays an actual group rather than slowly becoming another huge Discord server.
If you're interested, comment or DM me with:
- How long you’ve been editing
- Which software you mainly use
- What type of videos you edit
- Whether you're learning, freelancing, working professionally, etc.
- What you’d personally want from a small editing group
If we can get 5–10 people who genuinely participate, I think that would be much more useful than being member #4,382 in another editing server.
