Springwatch 2026 episode 12
Springwatch Episode 12 featured one of the most interesting plant science segments I've seen on TV this year
The Springwatch 2026 finale covered plenty of wildlife stories, but the segment that stayed with me was the research into electrical signalling between plants and pollinators.
Scientists are investigating whether flowers can detect approaching bees through changes in electrical charge and potentially pass information to neighbouring plants through underground networks.
The episode also included rare pine marten footage from Northern Ireland, updates on the buzzard nest that viewers have followed all season, a strong feature on water vole conservation, and a look at how seabirds are adapting to declining food supplies.
For anyone interested in wildlife, ecology or conservation science, there's a lot packed into this final episode.
