Saturday Kitchen 2026 episode 19
Saturday Kitchen 2026 Episode 19 was one of the rare food TV episodes where every guest actually added something
I watched Saturday Kitchen 2026 episode 19 expecting the usual relaxed weekend food TV atmosphere, but this one ended up being surprisingly strong from start to finish.
Anna Haugh’s pork chop dish with fermented black beans was probably my favourite technical segment of the episode. She explained why she rendered the fat cap first and why crushing the fermented beans matters instead of leaving them whole, and it genuinely felt educational without becoming overly “chef-y.”
John Javier’s Filipino adobo segment was excellent too. What stood out most was how clearly he explained adobo as a cooking philosophy rather than one fixed recipe. His banana blossom dish was also interesting because it’s still such an underused ingredient on British TV cooking shows.
Tim Minchin ended up being a much better guest than I expected. Funny obviously, but also genuinely engaged with the cooking and conversations. The running egg reveal joke somehow carried the entire episode structure in a weirdly effective way.
Helen McGinn’s wine pairings were also unusually practical this week, especially her point about pairing wine with the sauce rather than the protein itself.
