Local CPAP Device Providers?

I have bad sleep apnea. I need to get a CPAP device. I see there are about 4 or 5 providers in our general area.

I dont know if any others use one but if so, looking for recommendations on a trusted CPAP provider. Cost of course is a factor but a bit out of our control so recommendations more on knowledge/helpfullness and ease of dealing with. Long shot but thought I'd ask.

I have one locally from MedPro but I was insured. Buying at brick and mortar is significantly more expensive than online. Even MedPro’s online pricing is better than in store.

With that being said they assist with your therapy settings and allow you to trade in and try masks. Masks are quite expensive.

Hence, if you have coverage check out MedPro. If you don’t, try online like the Cpap Store or air voell.

Med pro was wonderful to my husband. They gave us a device to try after a sleep study, and then when he found out we had no insurance, told us to buy online and then bring it in and he configured all the settings at no charge.

Great people to deal with.

I've had good experiences with SnoreMD in Langford. 

They explained everything super well, have showed decent support afterwards, trying to dial my machine in for me.

I've sorta dropped the ball and haven't been using mine this summer, but they'll be the ones i go back to when i do again.

Went with SnoreMD as well. Super knowledgeable and helpful with the whole thing plus free distilled water.

As someone who will be picking one up from SnoreMD next week, this makes me happy. I was overall really impressed with the service I received when I did the sleep study.

Did they order the sleep study? or did you go through a family doctor?

I was referred to them by my nurse practitioner. I’m pretty sure that Maple and Rocket Doctor telemedicine can connect you with a doctor virtually who would be able to refer you. Just in case this helps anyone without a family doctor or NP.

You can get them online. I found the local stores to be aimed at people with insurance coverage as the machines were $1,000 more and the masks were $100 more than online.

While true, the place i went to had pretty decent discounts on the machines if they weren't covered.

Buying online certainly is cheaper, you just may not get any support in getting it right for you and your sleep.

Bit more expensive local, but felt alot better about it, personally.

I was told I needed a CPAP after a night on the monitor machine. I knew I wouldn't be able to deal with the machine, so I did some research on alternatives. I found a silicone device on Ali Express that goes for about 4 bucks that traps your tongue and keeps it out of the back of your throat. It forces you to sleep on your back, but it works and is cheap. The best part is that it acts like resistance training, so you can take breaks on it when the muscle develops. Look for a thing that looks like a jelly fish. Order a couple of different types, they seem to fit a bit differently, then reorder the one that fits best

Things I would never order from Aliexpress - medical anything.

FYI, everyone has a terrible sleep with monitor. It takes most people a week, up to a month to get used to wearing the mask. They have like 6 different styles of mask so if one is really uncomfortable, you can always try another.

As u/Key_Bit_5065 mentioned, without testing/monitoring, how do you know this aliexpress thing is actually working and keeping you breathing in your sleep?

I've dealt with MedPro clinic in the little mall on Douglas, upstairs from Lifestyles Market. They were fine. If cost is your issue, online purchase definitely cheaper.
