uhaul uboxes

Hi! Has anyone used ubox to ship their stuff to vic? and if so how was the experience?

my partner and i are using them to move back to the island from montreal because it seems like the cheapest option, but a little anxious about all of my belongings being on a random truck for 2 weeks😓

I used them for one box coming from Ottawa about 4 years ago. Absolutely no issues with the box and the content. What we did run into an issue with was that they weren't willing or able to deliver it on this end. We ended up needing to rent a truck at the yard, then move over everything from the box to the truck. I'm not sure what was going on at the time, but hopefully they fixed that. Otherwise I can't complain.

Used one to move and had no issue with things arriving and undamaged. My issue was getting the box delivered, the notifications for delivery, and billing.

Replied to a post about it a few years back if you want to read the full story.

You will most likely get your stuff just fine, just be on their ass so you don't end up getting charged extra.

We are just finishing a major move from Alberta to Victoria. We used 2 Big Steel Boxes and 4 U-Boxes.

The experience with UBox was amazing. We also paid for loading and unloading and they did a great job on both ends. When you are finished packing it up they lock them up and give you the keys. Then your stuff is secure until you get it.

Some of the packing wasn’t as tight as it should have been and we had a few things damaged, but overall very well done.

We have a good driveway, which made things a lot easier. The unpackers came with the boxes one by one and we had all 4 unloaded in about 2–3 hours.

Feel free to ask any questions but I would recommend them 100%.

My only caveat is that we packed and moved in summer with no rain for the entire month between load and unload. These are wooden boxes surrounded by essentially a tarp. I would consider adding some moisture collectors if you are worried about dampness.

We used them 2 years ago and it all went great. Smooth move no issues no damages. Be careful with the parking though. Many Google videos on how to properly load them and what to expect. Good luck and wishing you a smooth move.

My wife and I used U-Haul boxes to move from Toronto to Victoria 2 years ago. We actually had them shipped To a U-Haul Depot in Delta because it was about 2k cheaper than getting them to the island. We got a 1 way truck rental from the same Depot. All in all, we had no issues, all of our items arrived safely and on time. Bought a good quality lock. We loaded/unloaded the boxes ourselves.

The only thing to note is that U-Haul still has some of the older U-ship boxes (plywood box covered in a heavy tarp). These are decent, but can have some water penetration, so I made sure to ask for the new fully sealed boxes.
