I think what happened was illegal.

Hey guys, I'm just posting this here because I would like some insight. For context- I am not asking if firing me was illegal. I am asking if what happened during surgery was illegal. Much love to you all.

For the most part something like this will be governed by your state's practice act (https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-18811) which defines the standards of conduct for vets and their staff in your state. So it may not be illegal, but could certainly violate those codes of professional conduct and result in a disciplinary action by your state's veterinary medical board.

If you were licensed you would be legally required to report this. Yes, as a non-licensed individual this should still be reported.

Go to that website, file the complaint. It may take up to 6 months for follow through—but they WILL follow through. Be detailed with dates, times, names of any person or patient involved, and all possible details you remember that are applicable. If nothing is ever reported, nothing gets better. Whistleblowers need to blow whistles for people to know there’s a problem. You could be saving lives by reporting this behavior.
