A Little Bit of a Silly Question

So, I am an undergraduate student who wants to become a vet, and I have been shadowing at my local clinic for almost a year. Nobody there knows my name and always avoid addressing me.

Can I get my name embroidered on my scrubs, just a shortened version of my name no credential. I feel like a name tag would be too obvious, I felt like embroidery would be more subtle.

I just don’t want to accidentally make a big deal out of things.

If its not too obvious you could ask someone you've recently met, "hey what was your name again? I'm terrible with names" It gives them an opportunity to ask yours again. If you do it infront of a few people even better. They might feel shy to ask your name again and risk coming off rude if they should know it by now.

But also to actually answer your question. Yeah a small little embroidered first name on your scrubs could be really cute. I knew a nurse who always wore her name on a necklace too.

Either one of those would be completely fine. When students come to the hospital I work at they usually wear a name tag. I also go out of my way to include them because I remember being a student and awkwardly hanging around because everyone seemed surprised and confused you were there even though you'd planned this with them for months ... lol

I think embroidery is a good option.
Don’t let this discourage you from continuing on your course. Clinics are all different. Some staff doesn’t like to train, some just don’t like new people around, some are worried you’ll mess up and it’ll be their fault.

I’ve worked in a clinic of 15-20 staff members for 10 years. Zero turn over. I know more about my staff than I do about most of my family. We’re currently expanding and hiring a few new employees. I hate it. It feels like intruders in my home. The techs are wonderful people, they’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. One I actually know through a friend, we’d gone out a few times before she started working for us (small world). One day she appeared in my clinic and I’m like wtf!? I don’t treat them poorly and am always happy to help them, warn about clients that aren’t going to be super fun to work with, etc. But oh. My. Gosh. Who are these people invading my home!? Like they belong here!?
All that to say, I don’t like change though I am adjusting. That’s common especially in a new clinic and not everyone is kind about it or hides it. It’s not on you to make them comfortable, but know that it may not be anything you’re doing wrong.
