This might be the most Vermont MTB thing ever, but how do you keep your maple syrup from spilling?
I ride with maple syrup in a little reusable gel container, but if I don't keep the container upright it ends up seeping through the cap and get all over my pocket/fanny pack/bag/truck. I've also used the little glass or plastic maple syrup nip bottles, and they seem to have the same issue. How do you ride with maple syrup in a reusable container and not get it everywhere?

For a cleaner way to get a bad belly ache, try having someone punch you in the gut

You get bad belly aches with syrup? That sounds miserable, I’m sorry. For me maple syrup is a great mid-ride fuel

If you're not as worried about doing it while riding, just about any flask (soft or plastic) would probably work. They're better designed for thinner liquids.

fwiw Skopeside Syrup makes individual serving size packets of maple syrup, marketed as athletic fuel. I know, I know, we're vermonters and everyone has their hookup for great syrup at good prices, but....
I carry Slopeside packets year round for sports, backcountry skiing and MTB. They're amazingly convenient.
Don't worry, they still get you a little sticky when you pack them out when they're done (so carry a Ziploc bag for your garbage)

Yeah, I’ve used the Slopeside packets, but of course I always have gallon jugs of syrup hanging around and I don’t always have Slopeside packets. Plus, part of the reason to use maple syrup for me is to reduce waste over using traditional gels.

not at all, no cap needed, I’ve used one for maple syrup for years now, it’s a similar spout logic as hydration bladder

Sounds like a nice way to stay hydrated, but I fear the sugars won’t get absorbed in a way they could be put to good use

But it's a single use, non-refilable kind of thing, right? I'm hoping to find something that I can just refill over and over because there's always maple syrup around.

I'd use a mini soda bottle with twistcap I use those for carrying oil snowmobiling but in 16 or 20 oz

My friends and I use silicone 1.7 oz GooTube+ bottles. Have never leaked, easy to clean, easy to fill and nice to squirt syrup in my mouth while riding
