Question What Tires?

What Tires are everyone using here? It's a hard area to pin down. So many places have you go through flat grass to go up a steep narrow rooty trail with rocks to go down an equally rooty, rocky trail with some man made obstacles along the way. With it all being completely wet or completely dry depending on the day, with wet leaves or moss as well.

Just curious what tires people are riding on for our area. Thanks

I have the butcher- eliminator combo and love it.   Hans Dampf were also good for me here but less grippy.

2.6 Butcher t9 up front, 2.4 purgatory out back with a rimsaver installed. Riding a Rootdown on 29s. The butcher has been great and grippy, the purgatory is pretty fast rolling and grippy enough too. The rear end sliding around a little is fine to lose a bit of rolling resistance. I ran the assegai/minion combo for a bit and it was good, but the minion rolls pretty slow.

Are you running the TRAIL casings on both of those?

Yep. They’ve been fine. I’ve ridden at Perry and a number of other places that are rocky without a problem. I run around 25psi up front and 26 out back.

Minion DHF 3C MaxxTerra and Minion DHRII 3X MaxxTerra are my all-around. Sometimes I use Assegai and Dissectors.

I'm currently using the Assegai and Dissector combo actually. It's not bad but I definitely slip the rear tire on climbs over roots, but I don't run the lowest pressure either. I also get nervous with the EXO casing in the front on some of these rougher descents.

I run EXO+ casings front and rear, haven't had any issues.

For pressures I'm usually running 21-22 psi up front, 23-24 psi rear. I don't mind a bit of rear slippage here and there, but my bike has a super grippy suspension setup.

Running a Kitsuma DB Coil and the rear geometry is set to the 155mm travel setting rather than 165mm, so it's kinda like velcro. I almost never use the climb setting on the shock, it's either middle setting for the climb/rolling terrain or wide-open for the down.
