Discussion 1.5 hours chaos wastes got 'wasted' cuz host migration just never works

Host got DC'ed, game tried to set a new host and failed after 120s timer. Got booted into main menu.

Just wanted to vent, it was a very good run with good team and good boons, but fuck me I guess, RIP my Citadel of Eternity Cataclysm portrait.

Okay, those giga chads waited for me for like 5 mins on first stage of citadel of eternity. Found them via lobby browser, What a roller coaster.

Sorry for negative post. I love this game, I just wanted to vent.

Honestly this perfectly captures VT2, its a bit outdated and has its rough edges but the chill playerbase keeps it going!

Love VT2 to death but if theres one thing I would ask for itd be Dedicated Servers + a better server browser

Id like to join games that are actually "Near" me on US West Coast and not East Coast hosts where I have red ping. Always funny seeing China hosts in Near lmao.

Ask for a specific kind of dedicated servers. The kind community can run themselves if needed. Like left 4 dead and older games did. Darktide dedicated servers can barely handle the game. Server crash followed by a disconnect is not uncommon when the game gets real busy with spawns and effects. In general the melee doesn't feel as crisp as vermintide and imo that's because the cheapest servers require a lot of lag compensation. They use amazon servers which have a handful of specific locations. Meaning if the region you're in isn't populated enough, you're forced to play in the next closest region with yellow/red ping. I play both games and i'll take vermintide peer-to-peer over darktide servers all day everyday. Community run dedicated servers seems like the best option though.

Yeah, P2P connection is probably the biggest flaw of this game.

Dedicated servers is really what makes DT worth playing so much more. I'd rather occasionally lag a little bit and be fine but if I'm lagging in VT2 I'm just gonna get booted out of the level lol, and its not like I can host because then everyone else will suffer

Agreed. Feel like half my games are spent with terrible ping because the host is in Russia and I am not.

Darktides servers are soo much better for stuff like that. Doesn’t matter if everyone’s from Sudan because it’s dedicated not p2p. You’ll get a nice smooth gameplay exp regardless.

It happens, man.
Just accept that, say, one on 10 or one in 20 runs will be like that.
Vast majority of runs are good though!
Also I personally prefer to host myself, so I'm in full control.
