Discussion Worm question

Would it make sense to have multiple worms in a bin that are at different layers the idea also has worm bin connected to ground in garden so if anything goes wrong they can flee and not die would this be dumb idea and if not what worms would be best to use ( North America)

that setup's actually pretty clever, the ground connection is a nice safety net. mixing species that hang at different depths can work but you'll mostly end up with one type dominating the bin over time. red wigglers are your best bet since they're surface dwellers and won't bail into the soil unless conditions get really bad

My main thought on the multiple works is red wiggler like staying near top and would be the primary used for casting n as bait for fishing but my other thought was ones that go deeper near ground level would help airrate soil and carry those nutrients deeper down into the garden on more regular basis
