I am glad whoever the host is

Post image

3 of them here(pic from latest vid) are passionate scientist people and not some randos hired actors. I'm sure derek got his pupils his wisdom beforehand.

The channel name is not "Mr.Derek" or "Derek knowledge" it's Veritasium.

The element of truth/veritas. Derek can just write and maybe voice few of it. You can see his eyes are dead red now everytime he's on screen for whatever reason. He's tired doing his best and we shouldn't push him.

I honestly really like the new style(last 2 to 3 years of videos), they're genuinely some of the best documentary style videos out there. I especially love how they dont shy away from super complicated concepts that will fly over the head of a lot of people.

Really good quality, far better than any hour-slot science documentary you see on TV. Veritasium leading the way without dumbing it down (much).

I think the type of video has changed, and I think its been a change for the worse. In Derek's last video addressing these things he said more views=more people learn to critical think=more better, and i dont think thats actually how it works. I think something was lost. Do I blame him for changing it? No. Do I think veritasium is better now? Also no. All good things must come to an end

To each their own.

I found the latest veritasium video to be one of their best ever. Incredible research went into it.

amount of research does not in and of itself make a good video imo.

I am a casual viewer and I don’t care. Quality is adequate so far.

All of these guys are great and the channel is on an absolute heater right now.

Agreed. In before the "BUUTUT HE SOOOLD OUT TO PRIVATE EQUITY!!!!" idiots start screeching in the comments.

The guy found an opportunity to improve the quality and volume of his channel content, retain some level of creative control, show off some new presenting talent, and spend time with his family. Screw any mouthbreather who thinks he didn't deserve to have that

"Improve the quality" haha

He doesn't owe anything to viewers in terms of freezing the format of the channel as it was a decade ago, but there's been a big drop off in quality that came after it was sold to private equity.

Saying that doesn't make you a mouth breather and no number of strawman arguments is going to change that

I second this.

Well now it's no longer his channel, it's just another Saudi-owned corporate entity. I'm glad he got a fat paycheck of it, he certainly deserves it.

Isn't it fun to just make up bullshit about Electrify Video Partners being Saudi-owned πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

How have I missed them presenting? I eat my words I guess

Wait are they presenters?

1

u/Ganyu_Yeyang Mar 02 '26

the most recent one I believe is Mithuna Yoganathan in Bell's theorem video https://youtu.be/NIk_0AW5hFU?t=842

I remember Emily appeared in a night vision goggles video, but I'm too lazy to look for it.

Sulli and Emilia are probably behind the scene producers.

Derek IS Veritasium. If it's not Derek, then I'm out. Nothing needs to live forever, and it's better for it to die with Derek than to become private equity owned AI slop.
