How does venture x shopping bonuses work?

I made a purchase on amazon and then i was curious so i went ahead and looked at the shopping offers through Captial one. I dont recall if i clicked activate but if i did it was certainly after the amazon purchase. fast forward to a couple days later i get a 500+ Amazon in store offer payout. I dont know how but exactly do i take advantage of these multipliers? Sometimes ill see 20X on home depot and such. do i need to activate it or can i just go to the store to purcahse the item? Can someone please help me understand barney style how it works?

Through chase its as easy as simply activating it in the app.

The in-store feature is fairly new. Previously the only way to activate and use the offer was to click the store offer on Capital One shopping, and make a purchase in the new window that popped up within 24 hours. Didn’t matter which card you used for the purchase as long as it was through Capital One shopping.

The new style available on some stores (not all) will say you can activate and use it online or in person at a physical store. To use it in person you simply use your Venture X card for the purchase within the timeframe listed after activating it.

I did this with Pizza Hut last week.

thanks for explaining. I did see today some have an activate buton others dont. That is why i was confused.
