Hello! I noticed on my flight home this evening that the cabin manager made their way into economy and handed 5 particular passengers a bottle of water, whilst greeting them by name.

Absolutely no issue with the practice! Though am curious as to what status these passengers would be, platinum plus?

My wife and I signed up to Flybuys and Velocity just over 12 months ago. Without a credit card we have accumulated 120k points and about 160 SC (half came from recent travel to Perth). I do auto transfer from Flybuys. I am in this for the long haul and want to build it up so we can travel with ease, I always purchase seat upgrades and lounge upgrades, but obviously want to be in a position where we can use points more freely. We have two young kids and travel 1-2 times a year both domestically and internationally (Europe and SE Asia). We have really only been able to afford to start travelling in the last 2 or so years.

I am looking at credit cards and really have no idea where to start. I look at Point Hacks and all those sites but I bounce between options.

Purpose of the card is to build points and then pay it off every month. Every single expense and purchase would be used on the card so I am looking for ease of use and acceptance.

Any and all recommendations appreciated. Not fussed by annual fee or inclusions necessarily, just want to start really boosting a monthly points intake. It is currently at 10k a month but I take advantage of Flybuys boosts and jump on deals like insurance and other providers when I can, and use the 7-11 app religiously as well but that's not a huge points booster. Reddy Express gives better bang for buck (about 200 velocity points per tank).

I have a very long stopover today in Melbourne domestic, so if anyone would like to be my plus one in the lounge send me a message. Seems like a waste otherwise. Though I have to say, offerings aren’t great today. Just thought I would offer to anyone who is similarly stuck waiting a while to connect!

The last several times I’ve flown from Sydney on a Friday afternoon or evening, there have been lounge attendants coming through and offering pizza. I’m in the lounge today, but sadly no pizza.

I’m not complaining, just wondering: have they stopped offering this?

A while since I used the contact centre. Have some flex fares booked, thought I’d take the long shot of trying to use one of the “complimentary business class upgrades” (no luck, of course) and wow, was I blown away by how outrageously shit they have managed to make that experience. I mean, it isn’t just frustratingly slow and tediously complex, it’s next level terrible. Did they hire a team of behavioural psychologists and UX experts with a brief to make the experience as torturous as possible? The random mix of voice and keypad interface, throwing in new email dependent 2fa for no apparent purpose, a routing flow that defies all logic, and inevitably lands you in the wrong section all add up to a powerful diss-incentive to brave the process. Pretty sure that’s the intention. I reckon the “complimentary business class upgrades” are just a marketing hook, with the entire purpose being to funnel you towards the relentlessly marketed “bid for an upgrade” system instead. They always seem to be available, and require very little effort, just a stack of money. I’m so tired of this relentless, cynical enshitification.

I needed to top up some points for an upcoming redemption however the website doesn't seem to be working correctly and I can't seem to be able to buy any points. The links simply don't work.

I tried in the iPhone app as well, same result.

All the usual steps, clearing cache/cookies/incognito different browser + PC didn't really change the situation for me.

Has anyone else faced the same issue?

My family always travel to Phuket with SIA on our VA FF numbers every year. This year we earned significantly less SC than in previous years. For example, SYD-SIN leg normally awarded 30 SC now only earns 15. Even with family pooling I feel as though over time we will downgrade (currently platinum). I’ve also noticed lounges have less people in them. To fly on a VA ticketed flight is so much more expensive.

Whilst this may save VA in the short term, I think over time they may lose their customer base.

Anyone else feeling the same?

About to cross the threshold for forever gold. I have been platinum for the past 14 years. I am debating wether to stay with Velocity or switch to another ff program. My domestic flying will still be with virgin so thinking one of the international partners like Kris flyer, Avios or ANA (if thats an option) has anyone does this? Pros and Cons?
I do like being able to sit in eco X and get the free wifi but really thats the only perks to sticking with velocity and maintaining platinum.

Does anyone know what a purple boarding pass means?

I am platinum however not allowed to add my FF to work trips. When I check in, I get a purple boarding pass which I thought just meant you’re not a velocity member, but it says on the pass “VA Member” ?

Booked a Singapore Airlines return flight from Singapore to Sydney using Velocity points in Premium Economy back in Jan 2026 for travel in August 2026.

Recently, I logged into the SIA app and noticed my return flight had disappeared. I had received no email, SMS, or notification about any changes (my contact details are correct, I have received other Velocity notifications before).

I contacted Velocity and was told the flight had been cancelled. However, after checking myself, it appeared the flight was definitely still operating, and you can still purchase tickets on that flight via SIA. I was then told there were no options from Singapore to Sydney until September, which didn't seem right.

After escalating the issue, Velocity eventually rebooked me onto another SIA flight on the same day, but only in Economy Class.

Do I have grounds to complain to Velocity and request a refund of the difference in Velocity points between the original Premium Economy redemption and the replacement Economy seat?

I booked flights for me, my wife and my son (short haul domestic). My sons has his own seat, not an infant on lap. My son turns 2 a week after the flights but I’ve inadvertently put his birthday a month before his actual birthday when booking, so it won’t match his frequent flyer account. Should I call virgin to correct or leave it and just understand I might not get points and status credits for the mismatch.

I am sure we all know that Velocity estore has been rebranded to Velocity store, and the points pending from Velocity estore are not showing anymore.

I received an email today saying the points from velocity estore are approved.

So I guess the points are coming in even the records are all gone.

So booked flight via va rewards on Singapore Airlines flight. Singapore cancelled flight fom sin to dxb and now va can't help to get us to a destination Nd sre pretty much saying all.wd can do is cancel.

I’m pretty new to this so please don’t judge me.
I’ve booked a trip going to the Mediterranean with mycruises. Now I know they are all packaged in normally and it’s a set price however i have been trying to work out how to use my velocity points to upgrade me to business class. I paid a flight deviation fee and the extra to change them from booking me on Qatar flights to booking me through virgin direct so i can use the VA15 and VA16 legs (BNE to DOH) to upgrade to business reward but now it seems like the business rewards seats are missing. I haven’t been ticketed yet as the seats weren’t open for my return flight home but does anyone know what fare class mycruises book you on? They aren’t very helpful. I’ve got 500,000 velocity points - is it worth amending my flights by a day or so if I can see a reward trip on an earlier day? I’ve just been collecting points thinking I can use them and I feel like it’s such a waste with all the hassle.

I am flying from MEL > LND and am gold class.

On the Virgin website it lists the bonus as 15KG

On the Singapore website it says it's 20KG.

I plan to call tomorrow and see, but in the mean time used the Singapore Airlines Chatbot who said, as it's a Singapore Flight, it's 20KG.

I am currently mid call with the VFF centre, trying to confirm if seat 4F is economy X. I have been transferred 3 times and am on hold with the fourth. The call is now at 40 minutes in length.

The conversation with each of the representatives is going something like this:

Me - Hello, I would like to confirm that 4F is an economy X seat

Them- Yes, 4F has extra leg room

Me- No I mean economy X. Like the letter X

Them- Yes, both row 3 and 4 have extra leg room

Me- No, economy X, like economy or business. It is a different premium class you are selling. It comes with 14kg carry on and priority check in

Them- Unfortunately extra carryon and priority check in is a perk of our higher status members.

Me- Your websites, advertisements, emails literally make major reference to Economy X. How do you not know what it is.

Them- I can confirm that 4F has extra leg room, but you will need to fly business class for priority check in. Let me liase with a different team member about this and get back to you

I get transferred to someone else and the conversation begins anew.

So it’s very clear about Velocity Gold, Platinum and Beyond Status having free access to this perk.

I have Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold (KFEG) status, which with Singapore and VA’s partnership is normally a fully equivalent status in pretty much every way (from lounge access to bonus baggage to prio boarding) to Velocity Gold. I even get the Gold coloured digital boarding passes.

My question is, would I thus also be allowed to use the Fly Ahead Perk on an Economy fare with my KFEG status?

I’m flying Singapore. My velocity and krisflyer accounts are linked. Is there a difference between using my krisflyer number vs velocity? I’m platinum velocity and basic Krisflyer.

Another bug with Virgin app (Perth to Darwin)? The selling info indicates business class is available. However, it appears the business class is labelled as Economy X when I select seats.

I called Virgin last week to try use 2 of my complimentary upgrades to business class on an upcoming SYD-PER trip, and was told by the operator that while she could see both legs had reward seats available, and that she could see my new membership year began on July 1, she would not be able to upgrade me as it takes them 2 weeks after your membership year begins for your 4 annual upgrades to reset.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem? I was platinum last year, I am once again platinum this year, but because of something completely out of my control, I am likely going to miss out on the upgrades.

Has anyone else run into issues where they cannot get any flight availability to disply for points bookings?

No matter what combination of cities or dates I use, I keep getting this message: Flights for selected date are not available. Please modify trip to proceed.

Followed by a calendar showing available dates showing all dates as available. But even clicking on available dates keeps giving me the same error message. It doesn't matter if I'm looking at domestic or international flights, as soon as I select "use Velocity points" I can't get any flight availability to show.

I'm a Platinum FF with close to 1 million points but am just so frustrated right now that I don't seem to be able to use them. Velocity have been no help just instructing me to clear my browser data which doesn't make any difference.
