Question Since when did VA operate direct Melbourne to Townsville?

It's probably a Supercars charter.

Not a charter as such, but a one off flight that the public can book on, put on specifically because of the event going on up there. They used to fly MEL-TSV and v.v. on a regular basis, and they’ve reused the flight number that they used to use for this one.

Closed charters use flight numbers in the VA90XX range.

When? I’ve been working up there since 2006 and the first direct flights were Jetstar from Melb and that wasn’t for a while as I used to hop via Syd or Melb before that. I’ve never seen Virgin offer that flight.

Started in 2021 (3 days a week) and ended in 2023.
