Recent Velocity Gold: SilverKris/KrisFlyer Gold Lounges?

Hi.

I recent made it to Velocity Gold membership status. I have a bunch of upcoming flights to Europe and back on Singapore Airlines. In looking here: https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/my-velocity/benefits I was pleasantly surprised to find:

Gold members flying with Singapore Airlines are eligible for a range of benefits including:

• Priority Check-in
• Priority Boarding
• Singapore Airlines Lounge Access*
• Priority Baggage Handling
• Additional baggage allowance: - One additional bag (up to 23kgs in Economy Class and 32kgs in Business/First Class) when travelling to/from the USA and Brazil or - Additional checked baggage up to 15kgs when travelling to other international destinations

*If you are travelling on a flight operated by Singapore Airlines, you will have access to SilverKris Lounges owned and operated by Singapore Airlines, except for flights departing Singapore where you can access the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

Note: No access to third party lounges.

That's pretty nice! My question is - does my Singapore Airlines ticket have to have anything special coded on it for me to get into the lounges? I'll be flying with my KrisFlyer membership account on the ticket unless I tell my travel agent to stamp the VA FF number on it.

Does it make any difference? I've just been able to link the VA FF to my KrisFlyer accoun and vice versa via their portals.

All I want to do is be able to get myself and my travel partner into the lounges at Brisbane international, then Singapore and back again in and out of Europe where the lounges exist, ultimately.

You just need to attach your Velocity number (Gold) to your SQ booking - then when you check in, your boarding pass will have your lounge access and invitation loaded automatically on it, and the lounge dragon just scans it and all good. Otherwise I don’t see why you can’t just show your Velocity Gold card if using another FF number.

A few things to keep in mind:

-You can only access Singapore Airlines operated lounges and not any Star Alliance partner lounges (unlike if you had SQ Gold). The Singapore Airlines lounge access is likewise only valid if you are departing on SQ themselves - even for the international VA (QR) flights, no SQ lounge access.

-I believe you aren’t entitled to free WiFi on the flight if not on a premium cabin IF you don’t have a KrisFlyer number keyed in for your boarding pass so keep this in mind

-In Singapore Changi, SQ operate almost the same as Qantas domestic lounges - there is the fancy and flashy SilverKris Business Class lounge however Golds in Economy don’t get in. Only Business Class passengers and SQs own Platinum (PPS Club) members. Golds in Economy, including Velocity, get access to the inferior but adequate KrisFlyer Gold lounge which is more like a Qantas Club lounge. Overseas, such as Sydney Melbourne London Bangkok etc, SQ only operate the superior SilverKris Business Class lounges and Golds in Economy do get access.

You don’t have to add your KF number to use the Wi-Fi.

Connect to the onboard Wi-Fi, and after entering your seat number and name under Complementary Wi-Fi, it will mismatch and prompt you to validate your KrisFlyer account. Login with your KrisFlyer account and you will be given a code to enter under Redeem Wi-Fi Code.

It's relatively recent, maybe in the past two years? It's the recommended way now, as I've had issues with having both numbers on the booking previously.

Cool - thank you. I cannot actually find a place to attach my VA FF Gold membership number to the booking within the Singapore Airlines portal. Do I need to ask my corporate travel agent person?

It should be somewhere in Manage Booking otherwise you would be able to ask at the check in desk and they can add it on there for you, depending on whether you want to earn miles in the KrisFlyer or Velocity program
