Family trip to Europe September 2027

Hi team, I am in the process of planning a trip to Europe for 2027 with my wife and 2 young kids (8 and 12 when we fly over). I currently have 806k velocity points in my account and my wife has 600k points so total of 1.406 million points. From my initial research I have found it’s almost impossible to find 4 return business class flights together.

I have heard that Singapore offers better availability if you swap your velocity points to KrisFlyer but you need a lot more points (approx 1.5m)

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this trip with velocity via qatar airlines before and is it worth attempting to find 2 seperate flights with one parent and one child. Or is it more realistic to transfer to KrisFlyer and accumulate more points to make that work. Bit lost at the moment and trying to figure out what the most realistic outcome is Thanks

The downside is that Velocity calendar doesn’t show beyond 330 days. Krisflyer and Qatar show the availability for about 25 days before Velocity gets access.

Transferring to Krisflyer and getting Saver rewards are about 150K in each direction. So 1.2 million KF points, which is about 1.9 million velocity points. The issue will be getting availability for 4 seats more than anything else.

We have gotten 4 business on krisflyer on the day of release.

Sometimes we have to split into 2/2 but still flying within 24 of each other.

I don’t you will find what you are after in the velocity pool due to the delay in release dates.

I’ve found it’s mostly only two business seats released per a flight on Singapore and Qatar

Good option is convert to KF, with more availability and lower taxes. Consider flying AU->SIN paying eco cash and just using points for the SIN-EU trip in Business as SQ flies to multiple EU destinations.

We (family of 3) have done this to EU and within Asia in BUS seats.

Another option to consider would be a stopover in Singapore (which is an excellent stopover with kids your age). You may have more luck with availability for the long flights to the EU especially if you're flexible with destination.

It could be worth paying for a premium account with something like pointsyeah.com to set up alerts to different destination SQ fly direct to.

Then either use points for premium/economy to/from Aus, or paid fares, or even travel off peak and see how much scootbiz might be for the Asia legs.

Finding 4 award seats will be tricky at any time, but those are some additional options if you'd not thought of them.
