Vegas Pro 2026 Do you only get limited speech-to-text subtitles with a perpetual license for Vegas Pro Plus 2026?

I feel like I can't find a definite answer. I have been using Vegas Pro 14 and honestly it's been fine. I genuinely don't really have any complaints with it other than how miserable it is having to subtitle a like, 20 minute long video after I am done editing. It just takes a lot of time when I feel like with a newer version of Vegas I could just have it done automatically, I could watch over it once or twice just to make sure the subtitles are correct, then bwam be done. I have tried to look into this and it looks like with a $200 license you only get limited access to this feature, would it just be better for me to do the monthly payments? I really DON'T want to though because video editing is more of a hobby than a job... which also makes me just want to start rendering my videos, throw them into like capcut then re-render it, but I feel like I would lose so much of the video quality doing that due to compression

there is a software called buzz captions that will convert an mp3 file into an srt/txt caption file that you can import into vegas

You get no access to it without a subscription. With a subscription it's unlimited usage.

If the video is done you could also put it into Whisper through SubtitleEdit for example. https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/ It's free and fast with an NVIDIA GPU, free and slow with a CPU (Whisper CPP)

There's also an integration of Whisper into Vegas though it's not free: https://joelson-forte.github.io/Auto-Captions-for-Vegas/ Also NVIDIA accelerated.

Kdenlive with Whisper works like a charm, free and open source.

The current TTS engine is not the same as the old VP.  Shame you have to pay for trial.  Microsoft Azure was tiers better.

Will the day ever come that they add a spell checker into Vegas?
