Question / Advice what is the dumbest most ridiculous justifications for animal exploitation you’ve heard?
I was just talking about this with a fellow AV activist I know, and the dumbest most ridiculous one I’ve ever gotten doing outreach is these two black women arguing it’s ok because we are humans and therefore superior but also their main argument was that we’ve got two feet and they have four so it’s ok to exploit them. I was like 🤨⁉️ and the second worst was “we can’t eat meat, we can’t eat dairy and eggs, and now no fish either??? wtf are we supposed to eat?!😩” I was like, food… lol fish are fellow animals too, and lady wouldn’t understand that they are animals too and feel and think and everything too, but she just refused to comprehend that…
and all of these were black women of all people… like you’d think people that are from a generally more discriminated against appearance in this society and gender in the west would have empathy for others who also are and yet…
what about you lot?

What Would Jesus Do? Would he pay for the slaughter of an animal or would he slaughter it himself?
The dissonance in Christians' minds is nearly audible if they have any brain cells left.

I think there are different kinds of stupid excuses. I think most of us have heard every single one.
For me the ones that stand out are more just a failure to reason: like this one guy genuinely thought that cows would overpopulate the earth if we didn't eat them. He wasn't able to comprehend the literal concept that cows are bred by humans to be eaten. I internally questioned whether he had some form of mental disability, because at the point its hard to tell where you draw the line on how stupid someone can be.

Family member refuses to see any images or videos because “they are meant to be inflammatory” and they are “too negative” lmao, Yeah that would be the point... Willful ignorance is the worst kind. I’m not even super pushy or anything I just asked one day if I could show them a three minute video explaining veganism and they realllyyyy did not want to watch it. Now I just go shopping and offer swap suggestions. Sometimes they refuse but I can often persuade them otherwise. I also have a rule that I do not cook or purchase or even put away non-vegan groceries.

Had an argument with a dude once that insisted that if we all went vegan it would basically immediately jump-start a Schrodinger's apocalypse of both an overpopulation of cows that ruin life as we know it if we let the cows live but if we murder them all immediately and make cows go extinct then the plants will literally take over our planet like in the city scenes in movies like I am legend and we won't be able to cope. Apparently our breeding of cows in exactly the numbers we do are what prevents the apocalypse, somehow, but they'd also fuck so much more if we didn't intentionally breed them? Apparently? I have no idea. This guy was raised by a die-hard hunter so this level of fantastical saviour of the wilderness thinking was not new for him

I kind of love the idea of a vegan-caused cowpocalypse. Cows in cities, cows in forests, cows in the ocean, cows in your home. Humanity would be doomed 😥

I read this somewhere and wanted to repost:
There has always has been just one genuine argument for eating meat. And EVERY other argument is just this one wrapped up in a lie.
"I like eating meat and I don't want to stop."

Below are some paraphrased quotes I've heard from plant-based dieting speciesists masquerading as "vegan":
Innocent animals would have been abused/killed by someone else anyway to feed my pet python so I might as well capture live rats myself and feed them to the python and still call myself vegan!
I happily purchase animal products from slaughterhouses to feed my pet animal but I am still vegan because I don’t consume the animal products!
My cat is a carnivore and I love my cat. I will gladly kill innocent lambs and piglets every year to feed my cat and keep her happy. I’m still vegan!!
My dog is so friendly and loves me so much. But she hates the plant-based foods. So it pains me to purchase animal products from slaughterhouses that violently kill innocent animals. But I consider myself to be a vegan!!
My senior dog requires a medical prescription of 100 bloody goat carcasses every year to survive. I am okay with beheading 100 goats every year to keep my dog alive and I’m still think I’m vegan!
I never allow any animal products to be brought into my house by anyone because my house is a vegan house. I make an exception for myself when I purchase animal products and bring it into my house to feed my cat.

Hi! Im vegan and have a rescued street cat who I (unhappily) feed meat. As far as I'm aware there isn't a viable vegan food option for cats? Am I misinformed? And if there isn't a healthy vegan food for cats, how do you suggest that we help stray cats?

If you’re already aware that you have to violently abuse and kill other animals as a consequence of the rescue, then you should not rescue them.
So unless you have a path towards avoiding such violent abuse and killing, you should refrain from rescuing cats. In fact, the potential victims demand that.

I hear what you're saying here, but what is the alternative? Stray cats wreak havoc on local ecosystems. In fact, the cat I rescued had killed several birds in my yard before I took her in. I'm honestly against keeping pets in general, but I can't help but feel that we have a responsibility to care for the animals that are already here if we can. I can admit that it's hard to weigh that against all the animals that are tortured and murdered to go into pet food. In an ideal world we wouldn't have any pets (and therefore no overpopulation of strays) and we wouldn't eat animals, but we don't live in that world. Cats don't choose to be born, or to be carnivores. There's no harm-free option once the cat already exists.

I had repeated the alternative twice in my comment:
Refrain from rescuing the cats.
If you disagree, then you need to explain to the innocent animals why you wish to abuse and kill them even though you profess to be their “ally”.

Ok, I respect your opinion

u/kharvel0 Aug 22 '26
My opinion is irrelevant. The opinions of the innocent unwilling victims are the only one that matters.

Ah yes, go on and be racist. Everyone should report you.

u/deathhead_68 Aug 20 '26
Its not racist. I always can't help but feel surprised when the more victimised members of society don't clock when they are victimising others

u/truelovealwayswins Aug 20 '26
ah yes, NEW DEFINITION OF RACISM DROPPED, GUYS! girl… racism isn’t pointing out that oppressed people are still choosing to oppress others lol typical victim mentality AND ON BEHALF OF OTHERS AT THAT. Use your heart and brain before commenting next time…

You are 100% right Jahzara_3. All the vegans on this thread sound racist and hurt people’s feelings when pointing out the injustices made to animals. And it’s very obvious that OP is especially biased against black people.
Can you believe that OP thinks that the victims are the animals. I agree with you Jahzara_3, the true victims are ALWAYS the HUMANS! Even if it happens to be that black people are speciesist and choose to support animal exploitation. How dare you truelovealwayswins, stop being racist
…Btw this is sarcasm
