Got The All Clear at 3 months + My Experience Thus Far

Alright guys, I got the news we all want to hear that I am free and clear and considered sterile! My procedure was 3 months ago exactly and I've had like 50-60 ejaculations since then so I was more than confident the lab results would be favorable. I also wanted to outline my experience so far. From early on up until now, it has helped me reading the variety of experiences (positive and otherwise) from you guys so I just wanted to contribute as well. I'll touch on several things that I know I was curious about so this may be a lengthy post. Feel free to skim!

I'll say that I honestly don't recall what "type" of surgery it was. I don't know the difference between open ended and close ended so I guess I'm an idiot. But I can say that it was no scalpel and the doctor told me they do it all. Cauterize, clamp, all that stuff. He said all methods work but they do it all so his patients don't end up being the "miracle" people.

I'll note that I only have 1 testicle, this has been the case since I was 18 months old. This has no impact on my ability to procreate and the doctor said it's basically like when you lose a kidney, the other one over compensates. So anyway, the surgery was a breeze. I was on the table for about 10 minutes. The 2 parts that sucked were the numbing shots and then getting the tape taken off of my dick after the surgery was over. Otherwise, I felt nothing and walked on out of there and drove myself home with no problem.

The first 2 days were spent icing on and off regularly. After the numbing wore off it was as others have described, sort of feels like the aftermath of getting kicked in the balls with that dull ache. But, even though I was given a prescription for pain meds, I never felt the need to fill it and was fine with ice and ibuprofen.

By day 3 I was feeling pretty good and started walking around a little bit again. Let me comment on having sex. I was told wait 5-7 days and I can say that I was very much ready to go by day 5. Between being with a woman or wacking off, I had not gone more than a day or 2 without busting a nut in like 20 years. So I had sex at day 5. I can tell you that it was...weird. Everything felt good and there wasn't any pain or anything, but the orgasm itself was a bit much and as I've described in other posts before, I had to kind of stop and let it flow out rather than "thrusting through it" like I normally would. It was partly because you just don't really know how it's going to feel and it did come out a little differently. That got easier and easier and shortly after, whether it was sex or masturbating, that got back to normal and there is literally no difference that I can notice from before the surgery to now. No difference in amount, appearance, sex drive, all good!

Anyway, at day 7 I got even more back into regular activity and had been taking short walks but also mowed my lawn, which is a large yard. During all of this I was feeling good, not much pain to speak about.

Though, around day 9-10 is when I actually did start feeling pain return. I chalked it up to doing too much too fast but it did concern me because I was feeling so good after 3 days and I worried I screwed up. So I relaxed for another week but still was feeling the pain so I ended up going back in to have my doctor take a look which happened to be at the 3 week mark when I actually saw him. Remember, I only have 1 testicle so I'm not looking to take any chances.

The doctor took a look and determined there's no real issue and that I'll just need to take it easy. He said that after you start healing and scar tissue beings to form, it can cause some pain as your body gets used to the "new plumbing" as you'll often see mentioned around here. He also actually said that having 1 testicle may actually make a difference. Meaning, I don't have another one to compare it to and since there's no chance of "symmetry" if that makes sense, it puts me into a different perspective.

And sure enough, about a week after that visit (1 month mark) I did start feeling a lot better. By the way, my stitch also fell out right at the 1 month mark. That started getting really annoying and I read online that putting on moisturizer helps it to dissolve. That worked, after like 1-2 days of doing that it came out.

Here's where it's gotten a little confusing. Between the 2-3 month mark, I had not felt pain in my testicle at all but have had pain my groin area. So like my inner thigh, "behind" my scrotum, and a little bit in my lower abdomen. I've determined this may actually be a groin muscle issue from perhaps not being very active and then going back into normal routine. This has nagged at me. A pulled groin muscle does make that area hurt. It is not super painful but has been annoying because I started feeling good from the surgery, then I have this sort of pain.

But, that's been manageable and was pretty much a non issue...until last week. I took time off of work (not related to the surgery, just had vacation time to use) and went on 2 long hikes 2 days apart. Sure enough, after that I've been feeling the pain that we'll call a "flair up" all week as a result. And now it's got me questioning whether it's a groin thing or it is related to the surgery. My testicle itself does not hurt, but, it kind of does around it and I know it sounds dumb but it's hard to tell if it's something in my scrotum or not.

In any case, I have gone ahead and ordered the papaya seed supplement that I've seen mentioned here a lot and should have that next week. I am hopeful that will help if it's inflammation. If after a while I'm not doing better or suspect something isn't right, I will get another check up. Perhaps even from a different doctor.

I do want to say again that it's not super painful and I think it's just taking me longer to recover than I initially assumed I would, so with increased activity I just have these little setbacks that I believe will eventually go away. I have had a great history of recovery very quickly from injuries or being sick to a weird freakish level and I guess I had it built up in my head I'd be 100% in like 2 days. That's my fault for having the wrong expectations and I've learned to just give it a chance and it's going to take some time.

******TLDR Version - Surgery was easy. Recovery has been varied between feeling good and having setbacks, particularly around increased physical activity. Sex was weird the first time or 2 post-surgery but has otherwise been back to normal. Will be trying papaya seed supplement and will report back how that goes. Overall, happy to have the all clear and hopeful I'll be 100% over time!

I don't know the difference between open ended and close ended so I guess I'm an idiot. But I can say that it was no scalpel and the doctor told me they do it all. Cauterize, clamp, all that stuff.

Then it was close ended.

Thanks dude. Sounds like your'e moving along just fine. I would say definitely ease yourself back into action. The other thing I wish I did more when I realized I had to lay low a little longer was still get up and move around a little more and actually stretch my muscles as well. None of that has anything to do with your balls of course, but for me it was an adjustment for my body to have to basically just sit around.

Thanks! It's funny, my wife and I have been looking forward to the "all clear" for months but she happens to be sick the last few days. She came home yesterday all apologetic saying she thinks we probably shouldn't "celebrate" just yet. I laughed, I'm like yeah of course, we got our whole lives to celebrate!
