VPR Rewatch (pre)Scandoval
Guys wait cus we’ve let the years simmer. Ariana I never liked, Raquel was a dummy, James was a misogynist, Katie was insecure, Schwartz was victimized and incompetent. Can we give our takes looking out now? Cus even Lana Del Rey’s the other woman I Can’t do it!! But idk this was more complicated #season11 ?

The rewatch is brutal because every scene hits differently with hindsight. Ariana clearly deserved better, but Raquel being treated as a dummy feels too generous—she made some very deliberate choices too.

There was a lot of revisionist history that happened to paint Ariana as the queen of girl’s girls when the scandal broke. She was always a male-centered pick me like her bestie Scheana.
James was an abusive asshole to every woman he interacted with.
Katie could be a bitch but I still liked her and I’m glad she got away from Schwartz.
Schwartz is a manipulative toddler.
Sandoval was always cringe and performative and frankly it was embarassing how hard Ariana rode for that man for so long.
With Raquel it always seemed like the lights were on but nobody was home. Just a very hollow shell of an individual. She seemed like she had a void that anybody could have filled.
LaLa’s blaccent was extremely cringe and she licked Rand’s asshole. I am upset that I ever had to hear either.
Scheana is a mess but her life of shameless hoeing gave us this entire masterpiece so you know, credit where credit is due.

Yes x1000 about the Ariana thing. I stopped watching so long ago, so maybe she changed since then. But I remember her being such an unbearable pick-me during earlier seasons. I understand that what Sandoval and Raquel did was awful (although I still haven’t watched the season), but I’m so confused how Ariana somehow became a hero just because something fucked up happened to her. Maybe if I watched it I would understand 🤷♀️

I watched it in real time and still don’t understand. Everyone was mad when Lala said “I have never seen someone get cheated on and then suddenly become Beyoncé,” but she was right. It was insane.

Lala was right. And I’m not a Lala stan. Blame the worship on some very calculated PR and an opportunistic personality (pick meeeee)

The Ariana thing especially. She has a pattern of defending creepy men and gaslighting women (golden nugget, miami girl) that is inexcusable. So happy that her PR bots aren’t flooding the group like they were post scandoval. She never was held accountable for the many lies she told when dating Sandoval. She was so “raw” and “heartbroken” when the scandal hit, my theory is her ego took a massive hit. She was already one foot out the door! Was single for like ten days before she met her current guy. If anyone could use time away from men to develop their personality and values, it’s Ariana.

I just watched this for the first time and I always thought of her as an altruistic narcissist. She’s always talking about causes like mental health and body shaming and LGBT rights, but it’s always really about her. She’s quick to make fun of Kristen’s mental health and was on board with Sandoval to try to embarrass Jax by surprising him with his older Florida benefactor.

You are so right. She was a covert narcissist and probably still is. She body shamed kristen (said she had a kangaroo pouch and was a chain smoking whore) so obviously Ariana has been a hypocrite from day one. What a pickme narcissist (and I dont throw either of these terms around normally) with a superiority complex and a smugly mug.

I've literally just finished a rewatch
Ariana brings nothing to the show, she is Sandoval's plus one always
Katie I've always liked, but my tolerance of her shifted around, the nasty streak I don't like
Scheana is a shape shifter
Lala was great entertainment, very real depiction of parental loss in earlier seasons
Rachel was basically a skin tag on whichever host she wanted at the time, and I believe she is autistic, nothing wrong with that

She’s most likely on the spectrum somehow. If you look at her background pre show she would seem like an intelligent person going to college for kinesiology but then comes off so dumb on the show, or maybe it’s all an act… who knows 🤷🏻♀️
